D. Terry Like

Mr. D. Terry Like, 71, of Galesburg died at 4 a.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015 at home.

He was born March 10, 1944 in Avon, Illinois the son of Donald Perry and Clara Jean Holloway Like.  He married Shirley J. Wessels on August 10, 1984 in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death on October 19, 2013.

He is survived by five children, Joe (and Jenny) Like of Canton, Illinois, Lisa (and John) Goodwin of Pekin, Illinois, David (and Tana) Hare of Galesburg, Denise (and Ken) Padilla of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Diane (and Matt) Hoben of North Richland Hills, Texas; one sister, Jeanine (and Tim) Sundquist of Galesburg; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Terry Paul, Brittney, Jesse, David Ray, Jennifer, and Katie; and eight great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Debbie Mallas; and two granddaughters, Dayana and Kaylee.

Terry worked ground maintenance for Knox College for 46 years, retiring in 2007.  He was a member of First Baptist Church.  Terry loved to fish and spending time outdoors.

Funeral services are scheduled for 12 noon Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Rev. Curt Lipe will officiate.  Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Online condolences may be made a www.h-p-w.com
