Cleo served with the United State Air force for a time.
Cleo married Grace Peters. He later married Dawn M Gerst in Wooster, OH on Jan. 17, 1990.
He worked as a cook at Sharon’s Bar & Grill (currently PaPa’s) in Monmouth for several years. He enjoyed gardening, especially rhubarb, reading and a good intellectual debate. He was a very generous person who on many occasions opened his home to friends and family.
Survivors include his 3 sons, Eric Myron (Virginia) Peters of Monmouth, Rob Eugene (Brianna Strack) Blackman of Monmouth, Levi Gerst of Hazel Green, Alabama; grandchildren, Benjamin Eugene Peters, Curtis W. Blackman, Maxwell R. Blackman, Cassidy Walls and Christopher Gerst; sisters, Michelle “Mickey” Peters and Pat Peters both of Florida; brother, Ray “Louie” Peters of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Grace Peters.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service and burial in Eliza Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Cleo Peters Memorial Fund and left at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.
