Robert Keith Baughman

Robert Keith Baughman, 83, of East Galesburg, Illinois died at 2:15 P.M. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Galesburg, Illinois.

Robert was born on September 5, 1932 in Yates City, Illinois, the son of Roger and Carolyn Vancil Baughman. He was raised and educated in Galesburg, Illinois and graduated from Galesburg High School. He attended the police institute. He was married to Maralene Whitney.


Robert was an Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.

He retired from the BN railroad in 1981 as a conductor. Robert also worked as a police officer for Knoxville and Avon and was a Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy at the Knox County Court House.

Robert was a member of the Full Gospel Church, AMVETS, and Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285.

Robert is survived by his children, Terry Baughman of Galesburg, Illinois, Karin Pierson of Knoxville, Illinois, Steven Baughman of Galesburg, Illinois, Kathy Jackson of Galesburg, Illinois, and Brenda Sellon of Galesburg, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 13 Great-Grandchildren; siblings, Carol J. (Curtis) Temple of Galesburg, Illinois, Dennis (Jeanie) Baughman of Lincoln, Nebraska, Phylis (Glenn) Crockett of Atkinson, Illinois, Myrna (Steve) Godsil of Galesburg, Illinois, Roger (Betty) Baughman of Galesburg, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Julia) Baughman, and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Leonard) Stromgren.

Cremation Rites will be accorded and services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be left to the family.
