Betty Louise (Reed) Conner

Betty Louise (Reed) Conner, 89, formerly of Prairie City, Illinois, died at 2:45 am Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

Betty was born October 13, 1926 in Henderson County, Illinois, the daughter of Harold I. and Edith Campbell Reed. Betty’s mother passed away when she was four years old and was raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Irvin and Mary Estelline (Campbell) Carlson. She married Rolland E. Conner on May 23, 1943 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2011.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Conner of Galva, Illinois, and John (Diane) Conner of Galesburg; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Conner of Cypress, Texas; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Mitchel in 2010 and her sister Shirley Burell.

Betty worked with her husband in their farming enterprises in the Victoria, Galva and Prairie City areas. She was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church and was involved in many of the church activities. She enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the United States and spending several winters in Texas. She also enjoyed spending time playing cards, crocheting, reading, fishing and spending time with family and friends. She was active with the United Methodist Women, the Neighborhood Club, and the Rolling Rivers Camping Club.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Lyren Haney will officiate. Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 pm Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Prairie City. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
