James E. Stotler

James E. Stotler, age 74, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at Marigold Rehab & Health Care Center of Galesburg, Illinois on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 1:15 am. Jim was born on October 2, 1941 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Charles and Carrie (Cookson) Stotler. James was educated in the Quincy and at the age of 18, moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. Jim returned to the Kirkwood area of Illinois when he was 21. He proudly served his Country in peacetime with the U.S. Army. On February 23, 1985, James married Clara Abbott in Monmouth, Illinois and she is surviving. James was employed as an over the road driver for Munson Transportation in Monmouth for a few years. He was then employed for many years as a carpet layer at Rheinschmidt's Carpets in Galesburg. He will be remembered as a true craftsman who loved his work. He was a former member of the Monmouth Eagles Aerie. James loved music, reading, dancing, and fishing. James is survived by his wife Clara Abbott of Monmouth, IL, one daughter, Cindy of Little Rock, AK, one son, Tony of Peoria, IL, and one step-son, Howard Stokes of Burlington, IA. He is also survived by several grandchildren. James is preceded in death by his parents, one son, and one brother.

A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow services at Monmouth Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for Western Illinois Animal Rescue.
