Ronald L. Hogan, age 78, of Avon, Illinois died at 8:35 A.M. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at his home.
He
was born on September 27, 1937 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Lloyd
and Louise Williamson Hogan. He married Laurel Sorenson in 1957, who
preceded him in death in August, 1978. He later married Marsha Melton
Colwell in November, 1992.
Surviving
are his wife Marsha of Avon, Illinois; two children: Richard Lee (Judy)
Hogan of Galesburg, Illinois and Joy Leigh (Mark) Tully of Galesburg,
Illinois; step children: Tracy Colwell of Moline, Illinois; Terry
(Rachel) Colwell of Abingdon, Illinois; Tina Lovitt of Monmouth,
Illinois; and Tom (Lori) Colwell of Avon, Illinois; thirteen
grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; also two brothers, Roger
(Elaine) Hogan of Meredith, New Hampshire and Terry (Louise) Hogan of
Hudsonville, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his
wife, Laurel.
In
his earlier years, Ron worked as a delivery person for the former Lucky
Boy Bread in Galesburg, and also as a conductor for the former CB &
Q Railroad. He retired in 2004 from Koppers in Galesburg after 35 years
as a prentice operator.
Ron
never knew a stranger and was always joking. He was an avid reader and
loved to work in his yard. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking
and playing golf. He also liked to go camping and fishing, and was a
member of the NRA.
Visitation
will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 16, 2015
and funeral services at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the
Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory, Knoxville, Illinois. Rev.
John Prain will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Federated Church
in Avon, Illinois. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorials Gardens in
