Linda J. Smith, age 72, of Kirkwood, Illinois, passed away at 8:54 am on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Seminary Village in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on December 17, 1942 in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Velma (Berry) Bennage. Linda graduated from Danville High School with the Class of 1960. After high school, she attended and graduated from Burlington, Iowa Nurses Training program as a Registered Nurse. On November 4, 1967, Linda married Glen Dean Smith at the Danville, Iowa Methodist Church and he is surviving. Linda worked at a Registered Nurse at Burlington Medical Center for a number of years. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Danville, Iowa. Linda's passion was the love of her family, her dogs, and tending to her flowers and yard work. Linda is survived by her husband Glen Dean Smith of Kirkwood, IL, daughter; Jacqueline (Gwen) Smith of Oquawka, IL, brother; John (Carol) Bennage of Danville, IA, sister-in-law; Barbara Devore of Oquawka, and mother-in-law; Maxine Eloise Smith of Monmouth, IL. Also surviving are five nephews; Mike Bennage and David Bennage, both of Danville, IA, Dean (Marcy) Devore of Delavan, WI, Kirk (Amy) Devore of Lakeland, FL, and Jerry (Tracie) Devore of Sharpsville, IN. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial graveside service is planned for 10:30 am on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Biggsville Township Cemetery. Cremation is being accorded. A memorial fund in being established for either the Biggsville Fire Protection District or the Oquawka Toy Drive.
