Evelyn
Frances Rash, 88, of Galesburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 3:40
a.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016, in Seminary Manor.
She
was born October 10, 1927 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and
Helen (Dahn) Lile. She married Bobby L.
Rash Sr. on October 13, 1948 in Keokuk, Iowa.
He preceded her in death on June 11, 2004.
She
is survived by two sons, Bobby (and Teresa) Rash Jr. of Galesburg and Ricky
(and Linda) Rash of Bloomington, Illinois; a daughter, Stephanie (and Richard)
Ross of Galesburg; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a brother, Everett
(and Marilyn) Lile Jr. of Keokuk, Iowa; and three sisters, Marjorie Lile, Donna
(and Bob) Newland, and Betty (and Ron) Hillard, all of Burlington, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded
in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond Lile and Bobby Gene Lile; and a
sister, Lucille Sommers.
Evelyn
was raised and educated in Fort Madison, where she attended Fort Madison High
School. In her early seventies, she did
homework alongside her granddaughter and earned her GED. While living in Fort Madison, she worked at Sheaffer
Pen for 12 years and was an admitting clerk at Sacred Heart Hospital for seven
years. The family moved to Galesburg in
1967. She worked as the manager of
Sandburg Village Apartments for 11 years, retiring in 1991. Evelyn was of the Baptist faith and had been
a member of the former Prairieland Baptist Church. Evelyn enjoyed reading her Bible. She loved playing games, especially Scrabble. Family was very important to Evelyn and she
liked being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Visitation
will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West
Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will
follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Scott Wilson officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Evelyn’s name may
be made to Bethel Baptist Church. Online
