Kenneth A. Lock

Kenneth A. Lock, 93, of Avon, IL passed away at 5:20 AM Monday February 8, 2016 at Prairie City Rehab and Health Care Canter. He was born in rural Fiatt, IL on May 14, 1922 to Hobart J. and Ethel A. (Gray) Lock. He married Shirley J. Bloomer on April 16, 1944 in Maquon, IL. She survives. 

Also surviving are four children, Joyce (Merle) Van Dyke of Springfield, MO; Laura (Dave) Freburg of Normal, IL; Kent (Carol) Lock of Avon, IL; Amy (Doug) Butler of Lincoln, IL; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one brother, Dean Lock of Avon, IL 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Randy A. Lock; two brothers, Hobart Lock Jr. and Ray Lock. 

Kenny was a graduate of Avon High School and attended the University of Illinois. He faithfully served the community in many ways as the Avon Fat Steer Show Horse Show Chairman, Fulton County Fair board, Avon Fire Protection trustee, Avon Nursing Home board, Avon Lions Club, Carl Sandburg College steering committee and Lee township tax assessor. 

Kenny loved his family, loved being a steward of the land, raising livestock, and serving the community of Avon. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday February 10, 2016 at the Checkrow Community Church where he attended. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. The Reverend Joe Olson will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to the Checkrow Community Church or to Avon Fire Protection District. Interment will be in the Avon Cemetery.
