Joann
Smith, 86, of Galesburg, died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016
in Galesburg.
Joann
was born January 6, 1930 in ??, the daughter of George and Neva
Randolph Clevenger. She married Donald William Smith on September
24, 1948 in Knoxville. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2014.
Joann
is survived by one son, Jeff (Debbie) Smith of Galesburg; two
grandchildren, Melissa (Andrew) Farris and Jeff “J.D.” (Tania)
Smith, Jr.; and six great grandchildren, Damon, Quinn, Cloe, Blaze,
Cayden, and Braddock. Along with her husband and parents, Joann was
preceded in death by two sons, James David and Donald Randy Smith;
one daughter, Tammy Smith; and one granddaughter, Tammy Smith.
Joann
worked for several years at Burger King in Galesburg. She spent most
of her years being a mother and a wife. She enjoyed camping and
reading; being with her family. She was a longtime and active member
at Colonial Baptist Church, where she enjoyed many church activities
and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved to eat at Sirloin
Stockade and love the staff. She will be long remembered as a giving
person, as she always put everyone else first.
Visitation
will be 1-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Baptist Church, with
memorial services at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Darrell Grimm will officiate.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted
to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials
may be left in Joann’s memory to Colonial Baptist Church. Online
