Jean R. Kimble

Jean R. Kimble, 88 of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Heartland Nursing Center, with her family at her side.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert W. Kimble Jr., son, Fred (Kathy) Kimble of West Bend, Wisconsin, son Ron (Jan) Kimble of Charlotte, North Carolina, son, Scott (Stannie) Kimble of Keller, Texas, and daughter Peggy (Sam) Mangieri of Lake Bracken, a sister Carol Wurtz, of Batavia, Illinois, a sister Margaret (Richard) Johnson, of Sandwich, Illinois, sister Debbie Check of Henderson, Nevada. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Kimble.
Jean was born in Melrose Park, Illinois on March 29, 1928 to Julius and Nellie (Nee Greene) Allenfort. Jean was an avid bridge player and stampin’ up crafter and loved decorating her home for every holiday season, especially Christmas.
She graduated from Parker High School, Chicago, Illinois in 1946 and met Bob, the love of her life in 1947 and they married on September 27, 1947. Once her children were grown, she was employed at Farmers and Mechanics Bank and later became an LPN and worked at Galesburg Cottage Hospital and private duty nursing. She served as President of the Galesburg JC-ettes and was actively involved in the Newcomers Club for many years. She also had served as past president of the Nellie Swanson PTA and was a Cub Scout and Brownie Leader. Jean was a member and deacon of the Central Congregational Church.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 5, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund and Rev. Sterrett Collins will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am at the chapel. Private family burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jamie Kimble Foundation for Courage, Foundation For The Carolinas, 220 N.
