Mabel L. Osborne, age 89, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 7:02 am on
Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois.
Mabel was born on July 13, 1925 in Abingdon, Illinois and is the daughter of
Lloyd and Pearl Taylor Curtis. She was raised in the area where she attended
public schools and proudly received her General Education Degree in 1965. Mabel
was married to Marcy D. Osborne on April 19, 1946 in Abingdon, IL. He preceded
her in death on August 28th of 1985. She was previously married to George
Cadwell. Mabel met her husband working in a potato chip factory. They then
worked together at the Dixie Cream Donut Shop in Galesburg, IL. She then took
another job at the Knox County Day Nursery for many years taking care of other
peoples children, wiping noses and tears, singing songs, reading stories, fixing
meals, washing dishes, and celebrating many birthdays and wishes. She also was a
sitter for people in the hospital, or at home, she was needed so they wouldn't
be alone. She is survived by her daughters, Charmaine (Ivan) Shinn of Monmouth,
IL; Pearl (Dale) Saville of Tucson, AZ; Donna (Bob) Baker of West Linn, OR; and
Georganna (Bruce) Klockenga of Galesburg, IL. There is one son, Louis (Sheila)
Osborne of Warner Robins, GA. There are fifteen grandchildren and thirty-three
great grandchildren surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents,
husband, one grandson Ivan, great grandchildren, and a number of brothers and
sisters.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth,
on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Her family plans a visitation on Tuesday
evening receiving their friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
Interment will be in the Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron, IL. A memorial fund
is established for either Alzheimer's or the Susan B. Koman Breast Cancer
