Darlyn R. Peterson, 62, of
Galesburg, died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Knox
County Nursing Home.
She was born January 25,
1953 in Galesburg, the daughter of Darwyn L. and Kathleen F. (Morse)
Geeseman. She married John H. Peterson on August 23, 1974 in
Galesburg. He preceded her in death July 28, 2012.
She is survived by her
mother, Kathleen Geeseman of Galesburg; a daughter, Kristi (and
Chadwick) Forsythe of Geneseo, Illinois; two grandsons, Boone and
Sawyer Forsythe; a brother, George D. Geeseman of Galesburg;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Nancy Peterson of
Normal, Illinois; a nephew, Matthew (and Tresha) Peterson of
Bloomington, Illinois; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her
beloved cat, Carrie. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in
death by her father.
Darlyn worked in the Knox
County Assessor’s Office, retiring after 30 years of service. She
graduated from Galesburg High School in 1971 and lived her entire
life here. Darlyn and John were active members of the former
Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
She was active with the
Knox County Republican Party, participated in several bowling
leagues, and enjoyed watching classic movies. While John was still
living, they enjoyed taking daytrips in their 1972 Oldsmobile 442.
Visitation will be 2 to 3
p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg
Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mary Runge
officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial
