Mr. James D. “Bubba” Kimbrough, 82, of 788
S. Henderson St., Galesburg, Illinois died at 12:13 PM Saturday December 19,
2015 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born January 19, 1933 in Galesburg
to Sylvester and Addie Moore Kimbrough.
He married Nancy Ewing on September 30, 1956 in Galesburg. She preceded James in death on January 9,
2007.
James is survived by a son, James D.
Kimbrough, Jr. of Galesburg; a daughter, Harriet E. (and Isaiah) Thomas of
Moline, Illinois; a brother-in-law, James Holloway of Galesburg; a sister-in-law,
Rosalyn Tubbs of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five nieces and nephews, Anthony, Walter,
Terry, Troy and Chris; 11 grandchildren, Jamie, Jammie, Jeaniese, Meisha, Dereka,
Lawrence, Shamonta, Katrel, Adrian, Pam and Chris; 17 great-grandchildren and a
host of great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence
Kimbrough; a daughter, Carla Williams; and two sisters, Margaret Settle and
Anna Holloway.
He worked for Butler Manufacturing for 40
years retiring in 1993.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E.
Church, Galesburg.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed
hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved
the LA Dodgers. He loved and cherished his family and his best friend, Horace
Coleman.
Funeral services will be at 1:30p.m.
Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with
Rev. Tyson Parks officiating. Visitation
will be from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel. Burial will be in the East Linwood Cemetery,
Galesburg where military honors will be provided by the Ralph M. Noble American
Legion Post #285 Honor Squad. Online condolences
