Mrs. Ellen Davidson

Mrs. Ellen Davidson, 78, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 4:57 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

She was born June 3, 1937 in Parkdale, Arkansas, the daughter of Cleveland and Ethel Pugh Dortch.  She married John D. Davidson July 1960 in East Moline, Illinois.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 55 years, John D. of Galesburg; her three sons, Cleveland and Sherrel Dortch of Mesquite, Texas, Herman Davidson of Parkdale, and John T. Davidson of Galesburg; two brothers, Charlie Dortch of Galesburg and Leroy Dortch of Chicago, Illinois; five sisters, Stella Watkins of Parkdale, Rosie Thomas of Chicago, Lucinda Coleman of Parkdale, Beulah Dortch of Galesburg, and Ethel Mae of Parkdale; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Mary E. Pruett December 26, 1994.

Ellen worked for Admiral/Maytag Corporation for 31 years.  She was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church.  She served as an usher for the church.  She enjoyed gardening and she loved people and her family.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday April 22, 2016 at Bethesda Baptist Church.  Rev. Toby Carlos will officiate.  Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
