Mabel Lorene LeFevre died on Monday, October 3, 2016, at the age of
99, at the residence of her son.
She
was born on May 2, 1917, in Greenbush, Warren County, Illinois, the
daughter of Martie W. Caves and Beulah (Simmons) Caves Stegall. She
married Ivan Lyle LeFevre on September 10, 1945 in Yuma, Arizona. He
preceded her in death on April 3, 1988. She was also preceded in
death by her parents, three sisters, Norma Floyd, Cleta Rogers and
Edna Van Velsor and a brother, Donald Caves.
Mable
is survived by her son, Jeffrey LeFevre of Elmhurst, Illinois, a
daughter Sharon (Dennis) Galloway of North Port, Florida; two
grandsons, Neil Galloway (Tracy Michaels) of Amesbury, Massachusetts
and Shawn Galloway of Chicago, Illinois; and two great-grandchildren,
Connor Galloway and Erin Galloway of Lynn, Massachusetts. She is also
survived by her brothers, Martin Caves of Quincy, Illinois and Ernest
(Wanda) Caves of Galesburg, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
After
graduating Avon High School in 1937, Mable moved to Abingdon,
Illinois where she worked as a seamstress at the Blue Bell Factory
that manufactured jeans. Following her marriage, she lived a short
time in Huntington Park (Los Angeles), California before settling
down in Elmhurst, Illinois to raise their family. When she retired
they moved to Phoenix, Arizona until the death of her husband. She
was baptized on 9 October 1977 at the Phoenix Christian Assembly by
Pastor Donald R. Grosvenor. In 1990, she returned to Illinois and
lived in Morton before moving to Elmhurst, to live with her son.
Visitation
will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, 206 North Washington Street,
Abingdon, Illinois. Burial will follow at the Abingdon Cemetery.
