He
was born in Lee Center, Illinois on June 16, 1936 to Herbert and
Loretta Blodgett. He married Shirley A. Batson on November 29, 1958 in
Abingdon, Illinois. She survives. Also surviving are his two
daughters, Debra A. DeJaynes of Eureka, Illinois and Vicky S. (Steven)
Jones of Abingdon, Illinois along with three grandchildren, Christopher
D. (Sommer Williams) DeJaynes, Jacqueline E. DeJaynes, all of Eureka,
Illinois and Craig T. Jones of Madison, Wisconsin and one sister,
Barbara (Michael) Blodgett Pearson of Monmouth, Illinois.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Mary Alice who
helped raise him, one brother, Rodney Blodgett, and two sisters, Marian
Blodgett Purchase and Betty Blodgett Welch.
Harold
entered the Air Force on June 25, 1954 and was honorably discharged on
October 13, 1957. He retired from Briggs Manufacturing and prior to
that he worked at Gale Products in Galesburg and Abingdon Rock Quarry.
Visitation
will be Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with military rites and graveside
service immediately following at the Abingdon Cemetery. Eleanor Landon
will officiate.
