Arthur “Art” D. Mills

Arthur “Art” D. Mills, 84, of Abingdon, Illinois died 6:07 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at his home. 

He was born September 17, 1932 in Cameron, Illinois to Orin A. and Zelda D. Loso Mills.  He married Wanda Jane Tucker September 23, 1959 in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death January 6, 2005.  He later married Mary Lou Armstrong October 8, 2006 in Roseville, Illinois.  She survives.

 

Also surviving are two sons, Jonathon (and Tonya) Mills of Iowa, and Patrick (and Pam) Mills of Kewanee, Illinois, a step son John Armstrong of Cameron, two daughters, Sally (and Tim) Patterson of Galesburg and Lisa (and Joe) Sparks of Galesburg, a step daughter, Sue (and Tom) Tygrett of Roseville, a sister, Darlene Green of Galesburg, a sister-in-law, Juanita (and Al) Mattson of California, 11 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Sutor and a grandchild. 

 

Art graduated from Galesburg High School in 1950.  He served in the United States Navy for four years.  He was a letter carrier in Galesburg for several years until his retirement.  He was a member of the former Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Galesburg.  He was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers. 

 

Cremation will be accorded.  A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Rev. Harold Berrian will officiate.  Military honors by the VFW 2257/ American Legion 285 honor guard will follow the memorial service at the chapel.  Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the chapel.  Memorial may be made Disabled American Veterans, St. Jude’s Hospital or charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
