He was born January 21, 1950 in Galesburg, the son of Vernon and Melba
M. McDermet Plasters. He married Holly Batson Ralston on December 5,
1980 at the Abingdon Christian Church.
Bob
is survived by his wife, Holly; his stepdaughter, Penny (Richard Berg)
Ralston-Berg of Menomonie, Wisconsin; his sister, Sandra (Roger) Timmons
of Abingdon; two nieces, Tina (Steve) McCormick of Galesburg and Jamie
(Rob) Beil of Abingdon; his great-niece, Shelby Beil and his two
great-nephews, Eddie Beil and Dhane McCormick. Bob is also survived by
his Mother-in-law, Dutch Batson of Abingdon and her family, aunts,
uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Art Batson.
He had lived in Abingdon all his life. He graduated from Abingdon High
School in 1968. He worked many jobs but mostly as a truck spotter for
Maytag in Galesburg, retiring in 2000. If you knew Bob, you knew that
he enjoyed road tripping in his truck at a very slow speed so he could
see nature and the wildlife. He also enjoyed boating on the Mississippi
River at about the same speed, slow. His other enjoyments were
fishing, hunting, playing slot machines, his friends and he had a
wonderful relationship with his beloved cat, Jed.
Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the
Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at
the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
