Marilyn F. Kneen, age 85, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 3:50 P.M. on
Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois. She
was born on May 22, 1931 in Roseville, Illinois, the daughter of Chester and
Mary (Icenogle) Ross. Marilyn attended schoolin Roseville. On March 20, 1954,
she married Howard E. Kneen in Monmouth, IL, and he preceded her in death on
July 22, 2006. Marilyn began employment at Miller's Drive-In in Monmouth. She
then worked at the Second National Bank, Faith United Presbyterian Church, as an
attendant at Sudsy's Laundromat, and lastly, she assisted senior citizens with
paperwork at the Strom Center in Monmouth. Marilyn was a homemaker while her
children were growing. She enjoyed her flower garden, cooking, and baking.
Marilyn loved all animals; especially cats. She often met with her friends for
coffee at the local Burger King. Marilyn is survived by one daughter, Linda
Schwass of Kirkwood, IL, one son, Ron Kneen of Macomb, IL, two granddaughters;
Teresa (Alex Arnold) Schwass of Danville, IA and Kristine Schwass (Brandon
Stinson) of Kirkwood, IL, one great-granddaughter, Emery Corvaia. Numerous
nieces and nephews are also surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents,
husband, son-in-law, Roy Schwass, two sisters; Dorothy Needham and Maxine
Lybarger, and one brother, Chester Ross, Jr.
A graveside funeral service is planned for 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, April 20,
2017 at Monmouth Cemetery. No calling hours are planned. Memorials are being
established for Harbor Light Hospice in Galesburg or the Monmouth Nursing Home.
