Judith
Ann Peck, 73, of Galesburg, passed into the loving arms of her
heavenly Father at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2017.
Judy
was born on September 3, 1943 in Galesburg. Judy is survived by her
mother, Rosemary Terpening of Galesburg; two daughters, Gina (Orlee)
Lucero and Laura (Chris) Oestreicher both of Galesburg; as well as
her pride and joy, six grandchildren, Taylor, Ashton, and Joey
Lucero, Christopher, Megan, and Kate Oestreicher. She was preceded
in death by her father, Dale Terpening.
Judy
graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1961 and then attended
Brown’s Business College. Judy started working for Galesburg
School District #205 as a secretary at Henderson Grove School
eventually becoming an aide throughout the district, spending her
last 20 years at Galesburg High School. She retired after 31 years
in 2008. All of the students she worked with throughout the years
always held a special place in her heart.
Judy
was a devout Catholic. She served on numerous religious
organizations through the years including Birth Right, later known as
Knox County Right to Life, an active member of Immaculate Heart of
Mary, Ladies of Mary, St. Vincent DePaul, and taught C.C.D. for
several years. She was on the S.P.E.C. team. She received the Pere
Marquette award from the Catholic Diocese of Peoria. Judy had a
strong and special devotion to the rosary the Blessed Mother Mary.
She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan and loved to laugh and dance. No
matter what, Judy never missed one of her grandchildren’s events
from sporting events to theatrical performances.
Visitation
will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Watson-Thomas Funeral
Home and Crematory, Galesburg, with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Immaculate
Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will
officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.
Memorials may be made in Judy’s memory to St. Vincent De Paul
Society or to Knox County Right to Life. Online expressions of
