Charlyne Dixon, 79
of Avon, passed away at 3:32 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the
Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care.
She was born
January 1, 1938 in Macomb, the daughter of Harold and Vada Walters
Parks. She married Charles Dixon on July 27, 1957 in Macomb.
Charlyne is
survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Charles; her
children, Rebecca (John) Parcell of West Burlington, Iowa, David
(JoAnna) Dixon of Galesburg, and Duane Dixon of Sedalia, Missouri; 15
grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 9
great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Sandra) Parks of
Cresco, Iowa.
She was preceded
in death by her parents and one sister, Martha Parks.
Charlyne
graduated from Macomb High School in 1956and later graduated from
beautician school in Peoria. She had lived in the Bushnell and Avon
areas most of her life. She worked as a beautician for many years
and later worked as a CNA at the Avon Nursing Home, St. Mary’s
Hospital and the Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in
Galesburg. She was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church for
58 years. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Avon. Her
hobbies included cooking, knitting and crocheting, and spoiling her
grandchildren. She loved her rose bushes in her yard.
Funeral service
will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday July 15, 2017 at the
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Amy Holman and Rev Jon
Prain will officiate. Burial will be in the Avon Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
