Pauline L. Sheridan

Pauline L. Sheridan, age 96, formerly of Monmouth, IL; passed away at Heartland Healthcare Center in Galesburg, Illinois July 2, 2017 at 4:18 pm. Pauline was born on September 4, 1920 north of Rio, Illinois and is the daughter of William F. and Estella H Swanson Leafgreen. She was raised in Rio where she attended schools and graduated from Alpha High School with the class of 1938. Later in life she attended Carl Sandburg College where she attained licensing as a (LPN) licensed practical nurse. While in college she was a Phi Beta Kappa. Pauline married Robert E. Sheridan on May 5, 1940 in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1990. Pauline began work at the Phone Set Shop doing retail sales and alterations for many years. She then went into nursing as a LPN at Community Memorial Hospital in Monmouth for eighteen years and until her retirement. She is a long time member of First Lutheran Church in Monmouth and it's Sarah Circle. Pauline also was known to be active in the Bloodmobile as it was in town. She always loved being in several coffee groups and always was into community affairs.

Surviving her are her daughter, Mary Lou (Dan) Lindberg of Galesburg, IL; two sons, Bill (Jalaine) Sheridan in Normal, IL and Tim Sheridan of Macomb, Illinois. There are eight grandchildren, Kathy (Scott) Gray of Beaverton, OR; David (Janet)Lindberg of Morton, IL.; Melissa(Mike) Anderson of Crown Point, IN; Jeff (Christine) Sheridan of Ft.Worth,TX; Stephanie (Tony)Sandre of Round Rock,TX; Ashley (Will) Clampitt of Indianapolis, IN; Corey (Rachel) Sheridan of Macomb, IL; and Kelly Sheridan of California. There are seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also surviving. She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Robinson of Woodhull, IL and Marian Link of Galesburg, IL and one brother, George Leafgreen of Galesburg, IL. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins are surviving. She is preceded in her death by her Parents, and Husband Robert, daughter in law, Gina B. Sheridan, brothers, Carl, Richard and Harvey Leafgreen, and sister Helen Peterson, and Stepbrother, Vincent Olson.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday July 10, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans to receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 prior to the service. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg, Illinois. The family then plans fellowship at First Lutheran Church in Monmouth, IL.
