Caroline X. Douglas, 96, of Monmouth, IL, formerly of Seaton, IL died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Fippinger Funeral Home inAledo. Burial is in the Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg, IL. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday at Fippinger's. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to St. Jude 's Children's Hospital. Caroline was born April 21, 1921 in Seaton, Illinois to Clayton P. and Florence Willits Harrison. She attended Seaton High School and married William L. Douglas August 27, 1938 in the little brown church in Nashua, IA. He died May 17, 2007.
She was employed by the Aledo School District #201 as a cook in the Seaton school, retiring after 20 years. She was previously employed at various elevators and was a clerk for the City of Seaton for 12 years.
Caroline was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church where she was an elder for many years. Caroline enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, cooking and being with her family.
She is survived by one daughter: Sue (Ron) Whitaker of Broken Arrow, OK; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Mattson of Aledo, IL; Steven (Jennifer) Douglas of Monmouth, IL; Rebecca (Wayne) Ferrenburg of Monmouth, IL; Heather (Richard) Pidcock of Sand Springs, OK; Heidi (Robert) Snow-Brown of Conroe, TX; 2 stepgrandchildren, Lee Whitaker of Corpus Christie, TX; Matt (Jenny) Whitaker of Dallas, TX; 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son: James, one brother: Tom Harrison and two sisters: Alice Waugh and Lucy Duncan.
