Audrey Neotia Hughbanks

Audrey Neotia Hughbanks, 95, a longtime Knoxville resident passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Knox County Nursing Home.

Audrey was born July 8, 1920 in Fulton County, Illinois to Clark Otis and Edith Faye Moore White. Audrey married Frank Hughbanks, February 14, 1937. They lived in Peoria County until moving to Knoxville in 1942.

Audrey is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Gibbs, Gilson and Shirley (Larry) Lowe, Carlock; grandchildren, Kathy (Roger) Secrist, East Galesburg; Russell (Jami) Gibbs and Sean Gibbs, Gilson, Jason (Kellie) Gibbs, Belvidere; James (Erin) Lowe, Albers and Tom (Stephanie) Lowe, Pingree Grove; eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

Audrey was preceded in death, by her parents and husband, Frank; her sisters Eva and Geneva; brother Alfred and son-in-law Donnie Gibbs.

Audrey worked in the cafeteria at Knoxville High School for 33 years. She was affectionately known as the “Ice cream lady.”

Her kindness to others and her willingness to share her pie baking and sewing talents with family and friends will be remembered by those that knew her.

Audrey’s family would like to thank the caring, hardworking and dedicated staff at Knox County Nursing Home especially the two Michelles. The love you showed mom was greatly appreciated.

Memorials may be made in Audrey’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.

There will be no visitation. A private family service will be held. Rev. David Shreeves will officiate. Burial will be in the Knoxville Cemetery.
