Robert E. "Bob" West

Robert E. “Bob” West, age 90, of Knoxville, Illinois, died on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

He was born on June 22, 1925 in Knoxville, Illinois, the son of Earl and Starr Mulliner West. He attended and graduated from Knoxville High School. He married Rosalie “Rosie” Sottos on November 7, 1947 in Knoxville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 25, 2000.

Surviving is a son< Richard Earl “Rick” West of Knoxville, Illinois; two grandchildren, Rob West of East Galesburg, Illinois and Meo (Marcus) Kyser of Galesburg, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jade and Jasmine West, Bishop and Kingston Kyser. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three sisters.

He worked as an individual contractor in Tool Design in California, owned and operated the West Drive-In Restaurant in Redway, California. He enjoyed his animals and gardening. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Illinois. He served in the Marine Corp. from September 1943 to March 1946.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Michel D. Clark will officiate. Interment will be in the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois with military rites conducted by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 of Galesburg, Illinois.
