Delores Pearl Rodenhouser,
79, of Galesburg, died at 1:25 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at home.
She was born January 2,
1936, in Galesburg, the daughter of Herman and Lela (Purdy) Tracy.
She married Fred Eugene Rodenhouser on November 2, 1957 in Galesburg.
He preceded her in death January 31, 1990.
She is survived by two
daughters, Lisa (and Tim) Boone of Galesburg and Vanessa (and Garvin)
Main of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Zachary Larson, Jacob Larson,
Bryan Main, Bradley Main, and Amy Thomason; eight great
grandchildren, Ben, Aubrey, Caleb, Carson, Natalie, Henry, Olivia,
and Izabella; two brothers, Warren Tracy of Galesburg and Clifford
Tracy in Arkansas; a sister, Shirley Schmidt of Galesburg; and
numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great
nieces, and great-great nephews. In addition to her husband, she was
preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lori Darst; three
sons-in-law, Dale Darst, Bill Stephens, and Ric Larson; and seven
siblings and their spouses.
Dee worked as a child care
provider and was available to provide motherly love to many babies of
the family and compassionate advice and assistance to many new
parents. She was loved by all family members and is remembered for
all the support and love she offered them. Dee also worked as a
baker at Giant Food Store and worked in support services at Galesburg
Cottage Hospital.
Dee will be remembered for
her love of family and friends. She was a loving partner with her
husband as they built three of their homes in Knox County. She was a
splendid homemaker and cook.
In her years as a widow,
she traveled abroad and in the United States, in addition to her
volunteer work at Cottage Hospital. She volunteered in medical
records for 13 years, logging 7016 hours. She was known as “Grammy”
to many of the hospital personnel during her time there.
Cremation will be
accorded. Dee’s family is planning a memorial service for 11 a.m.
Monday, October 12, 2015 at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Vince
Marolla and Rev. Pam Marolla will officiate. There will be no
visitation. Memorial contributions in Dee’s name may be made to
the Galesburg Rescue Mission or Beacon of Hope Hospice.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of
Galesburg is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
