Mrs. Vivian M. Carley, 97, of Galesburg died at 9:50 am Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky.
She was born October 2, 1918 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa the daughter of Harvey R. and Clemence Carpenter Wolff. She married James R. Carley in Palmyra, Missouri on May 17, 1941. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2006.
She is survived by her two sons, Roger J. (and Sandy) Carley of Cleveland, Tennessee and Kenneth W. (and Robin) Carley of Dayton, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Jon, Stephen and Jarrod Carley and Cami Leo; three great grandchildren, Hannah, Sydney and Jack Carley; special niece, Kathy Olsen; her lifelong friend, Jane Adcock and her dear neighbors, Naomi Law, Mary Vallero and Kathy Woodward. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Vivian worked as the Warren County Deputy County Clerk for 4 years. She had also worked part time as the secretary for Burrel Braash attorney. She was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, she also had lived in Monmouth and Galesburg since 1941. Vivian graduated from Ottumwa, Iowa. She was a member of the OAKS and the First United Methodist Church. Vivian was an avid Cubs fan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am Monday, November 23, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Pastor Mary Runge will officiate. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, O.A.K.S or to the Beacon of Hope Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
