Eleanor Jean Billings

Eleanor Jean Billings, 89, of Galesburg, died at 11:34 a.m. Monday June 12, 2017 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. 

 

She was born December 26, 1927 in Gilman, Illinois the daughter of Helen Pilcher.  She married Lee R. Billings on January 28, 1946 in Gilman, Illinois.  She later married Sam Edwards. 

 

Surviving are two sons, Gary Lee Billings of Roseville, California and Rodney G.  Billings (and partner Troy Rash) of Waco, Texas, a daughter, Lori Ann Billings Clark of Normal, Illinois, a brother, Chester Pilcher of Salem, South Carolina, a special friend, Dale Anderson of North Henderson and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her mother, a son-in-law, Steve Clark, a brother, Harold Pilcher and a close companion Jimmy Dates. 

 

Jean graduated from Galesburg High School in 1945.  She worked as a sales clerk for Bergner’s Department Store in Galesburg for 17 years.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  She participated in a sewing club with the same friends for over 50 years.

 

Cremation will be accorded.  Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is assisting family with arrangements.  Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
