Franklin J. Gustine II

Franklin J. Gustine II, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died Friday November 11, 2016 at 6:24 p.m. at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

Frank was born April 17, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Frank H. Gustine and Lois Opal Johns Gustine. He married Marjorie Pulliam. Frank later married Nancy Ann Carlson Jordan on August 8, 1979 at Glacier National Park on top of Lincoln Peak. Nancy preceded him in death on February 13, 2010.

Frank is survived by a son, Gerald (and Lorinda) Gustine of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a stepson John (and Linda) Jordan of The Woodlands, Texas; a brother James Gustine of Vero Beach, Florida; five grandchildren and two great grand grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Franklin “Reddy” Gustine

He attended Wataga High School, graduating in 1939. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Knox College in 1960. Frank worked in the insurance business for most of his career including owning and operating Gustine Insurance. He retired in 1996.

Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. He flew 26 B29 combat missions during the Korean War before ending his enlistment in 1953.

Frank was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. He held a number of positions in the church including Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Worship Committee and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was a member of the 50-Year Club of Knox College, President of the Knox Alumni Association for 3 years, Chairman of the Knox County Republican Central Committee for 11 years, Vice-President of the Illinois County Chairman Association for 4 years, District Governor for the Galesburg Exchange Club, President of the Galesburg Independent Insurance Agents Association, President of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony, Chairman of the Finance Committee for the construction of the Knox County Nursing Home, Chairman of the Finance Committee for the K-88 development of middle schools in Galesburg School District #205, President of the Richard Asbury Chapter of the Air Force Association, Chartered the Heart of Illinois Air Force Chapter in Galesburg and served as President, State President of the Air Force Association for the State of Illinois and Regional President of the Midwest Region of the Air Force Association.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Rev. Vince Rohn will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites by the United States Air Force. Cremation will be accorded. Wilbur “Buster” T. Perry

Wilbur “Buster” T. Perry, age 79, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 4:18 P.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center. Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on March 12, 1937 in Solway, Kentucky the son of William McKinley and Delila (Spencer) Perry. He married Barbara Hutson on July 28, 1961 at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois.
Surviving is his wife, Barbara Perry of Knoxville, Illinois; two sons: John T. (Pam) Perry of Knoxville, Illinois and Roger A. (Stephanie) Perry of Knoxville, Illinois; one daughter, Karen M. (Jeff) Stern of Big Lake, Minnesota; nine grandchildren: Marcus Allen, Matt Allen, John Michael Perry, Logan McKinley Perry, Maranda Marie Perry, Jordan Allen Perry, Alexis Stern, Rachel Stern and Trevor Stern; and two great grandchildren: Lila Allen and John August “A.J.” Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
He began working for Midwest, then Admirals and retiring from Maytag for 39 years as a paint repairman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois and he served in the United States Army Reserves. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and watching TV.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois, Rev. Chet Travis and Dan Lybarger will officiate. Judith Carol Shover

Judith Carol Shover, 75, of London Mills, IL passed away at 10:07 AM Friday November 25, 2016 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born October 12, 1941 in Warren County to Louise and Verna (Lowe) Young. She married Russell L. Shover on October 11, 1958 in London Mills. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2007.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Larry) Schatz of London Mills, IL; two granddaughters, Thea (Dustin) Hobby of Abingdon, IL; Celesta (Brain) England of Canton, IL; five great-grandchildren Alexx, Ben, Dylan, Brandon and Olivia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, one brother and one son John Shover.
Family will greet friends on Tuesday November 29, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Corman Memorial Home of Avon. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Wilma Jean Landon

Wilma Jean Landon, 78 of Abingdon, passed away at 10:57 p.m. Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.
  She was born March 18, 1938 in Colchester, the daughter of Thelbert and Lula Bell Martin Mecum.  She married George O. Landon on June 1, 1958 at the Abingdon Christian Church.
  Wilma is survived by her husband of 58 years, George; her children, Debbie (Bob) Cline of Galesburg, Greg (Brenda) Landon of Avon, Joe (Lyn) Landon of Bloomington and Amy (John) Winkler of Galesburg; eight grandchildren, Christina Landon, Bobby Landon, Erika Cline, Jonathan Cline, Jessica Cline, Brittany Mason, John Winkler and Julia Landon; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Jean Corbin and Parker John Landon; four brothers, Edward (Shirley) Mecum of Fontana, Wisconsin, Jim (Marcia) Mecum of Marengo, Ben (June) Mecum of Swan Creek and Roger (Diana) Mecum of Grinnell, Iowa; two sisters, Judy Buchanan of Biggsville and Shirley Ann (Raymond) Hasten of Kirkwood; and a brother-in-law, Roy Trulson of West Plains, Missouri.
  Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Francis Mecum, a sister, Dorothy Trulson and a great-granddaughter, Alayna Lee Corbin.
  She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1957.  She had lived in Abingdon most of her adult life.  She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church and was a church Elder and Deaconess and she was also a member of the church choir. She was a member of Chapter BB P.E.O.  She worked at the former Abingdon Bank and Trust Company.  She also worked in the activity department at the Care Center of Abingdon and later volunteered for many years. She enjoyed giving manicures and painting finger nails for the lady residents.  She received both the Illinois and the American Healthcare Association’s Volunteer of the Year Awards.
  Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Abingdon Christian Church, 409 S. Main St. in Abingdon.  Rev. Darryl McDaniel will officiate.  Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Abingdon Christian Church.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Lee “Dottie” Bushnell Bundren

Dorothy Lee “Dottie” (Fancher) Bushnell Bundren, 79, of Knoxville, Illinois died on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.
 
She was born on August 15, 1937 in Maquon, Illinois, the daughter of Leo and Maxine Burkhalter Fancher.  Dorothy married Kenneth Bushnell in 1955. She later married Ellis Bundren in 1985 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2003. 
 
Dorothy is survived by her children; Kenny (Candy) Bushnell of Indiana, Becky (Gary) Barton of Galesburg, Illinois and Nick Bushnell of Peoria, Illinois, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two siblings; JoRae (Gary) Runge of Galesburg, Illinois and Nick Fancher of Florida.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands.
 
Dorothy worked for Maytag in Galesburg as a janitor for more than 35 years.
 
She was always there for her children and family.  She loved sharing a cup of coffee and a cigarette with a friend.  She loved animals, challenging crossword puzzles, painting, being on the computer, watching sports, and drives in the country. 
 
Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services. Richard Leon Annegers, Sr

Richard Leon Annegers, Sr. Age 60 of rural Stronghurst, IL, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Thursday November 24, 2016 at OSF Medical Center in Peoria. He was born July 5, 1956 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Raymond R. and Marilon McCullom Annegers. He was married to Patricia LeDuc.

Leon was a truck driver for several area companies and farmers for many years. He also farmed near Stronghurst. He enjoyed pool league, bowling, fishing and boating in his pontoon, and slow pitch softball. He was a former member of the Burlington Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife and companion of many years, Patricia LeDuc, his mother, Marilon Stewart of Gladstone, two sons, Richard William Annegers of Burlington, IA, Richard Leon Annegers, Jr of Gladstone, IL, one grandson, Avery Wyatt Annegers, one sister, Anne (Maurice) Smith of Gladstone, IL, one brother, Joe (Linda) Annegers of Gladstone, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister in infancy, Nancy Lee Annegers.

James M. “Jim” Shafer

James M. “Jim” Shafer, 49 of Galesburg died at 4:45 am Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Creston, Iowa.

He was born June 10, 1967 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Norman Paul and Elaine C. Langer Shafer. He married Lisa A. Addis on September 25, 1999 in Galesburg.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lisa; his daughter, Anna Grace at home; one brother, David (Sandy) Shafer of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; three sisters, Diane (Thomas Hasselbacher) Ohmann and Debbie (Rodger) Clay both of Galesburg and Barb Shafer of San Antonio, Texas and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Darold Shafer and a sister, Judy Ziokowski.

Jim worked as an engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad for 13 years. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1985. He enjoyed snowmobiling in Minnesota and Wisconsin and was a member of the Prairie Drifters Snowmobile Club. Jim was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Local # 644. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Jim loved to stay busy and help people. He took pride in his lawn and had immaculate cars. He loved his cats, Sophie and Ace and the late Burt. Jim was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. His true love was spending time with his family, especially his daughter, Anna. He was very proud of all her involvements, whether it was playing the flute or piano, her performing art productions, church activities or cross country.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Frank Langholf will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm Monday, November 28, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will follow services. Joann Smith

Joann Smith, 86, of Galesburg, died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in Galesburg.
Joann was born January 6, 1930 in ??, the daughter of George and Neva Randolph Clevenger. She married Donald William Smith on September 24, 1948 in Knoxville. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2014.
Joann is survived by one son, Jeff (Debbie) Smith of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Melissa (Andrew) Farris and Jeff “J.D.” (Tania) Smith, Jr.; and six great grandchildren, Damon, Quinn, Cloe, Blaze, Cayden, and Braddock. Along with her husband and parents, Joann was preceded in death by two sons, James David and Donald Randy Smith; one daughter, Tammy Smith; and one granddaughter, Tammy Smith.
Joann worked for several years at Burger King in Galesburg. She spent most of her years being a mother and a wife. She enjoyed camping and reading; being with her family. She was a longtime and active member at Colonial Baptist Church, where she enjoyed many church activities and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved to eat at Sirloin Stockade and love the staff. She will be long remembered as a giving person, as she always put everyone else first.
Visitation will be 1-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Baptist Church, with memorial services at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Darrell Grimm will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Theresa L. Harris

Theresa L. Harris, age 73, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 5:22 AM on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. She was born on November 1, 1943 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Glenn and Beulah (Jacobs) Sherwood. Theresa was raised and educated in Canton, MO where she graduated from Canton High School. Theresa married Henry J. Harris and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1992. She was employed at Country Fun in Biggsville, Illinois. She most enjoyed being a "Happy" homemaker and taking care of her family. Theresa enjoyed yard work, gardening, flowers, and the neighborhood cats. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa JoAnn (Dewayne) Wear of Kewanee, IL., three sons; Henry (Julie) Harris of Burlington, IA., Don Harris of Oquawka, IL., and Albert (Sherry) Harris of Ottawa, KS., eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Mildred Olson of Kahoka, MO. and Katherine Sherwood of LaBelle, MO, and one brother, Gary Sherwood on Canton, MO. Theresa is preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin brother, and sister.
A graveside funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Oquawka Cemetery. Mary J. Lillard

Mary Jane Lillard, age 80, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Monday November 21, 2016 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. She was born August 20, 1936 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Horace Elbridge and Bernice Rose Charter Smith. On December 7, 1952, she married Calbert Edwin "Cal" Lillard in Burlington, He preceded her in death on January 14, 2006.
Mary was Social Services Director at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst for several years. Earlier in life, she worked for Conifer and also IRC in Burlington. She loved music, flower gardening, family gatherings, and visiting with her friends. She was a member of the Stronghurst United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia (Frank) Piper of Monmouth, IL, Kelly Lillard of Surprise, AZ, Lori Russell of Stronghurst, one son, Charles (Debra) Lillard of London, KY, five grandchildren, Tracy Watson, Shawn Lillard, Channon Hanson, Brian Piper, Andrew Russell, eleven great grandchildren, and one sister, Judy Bielser of Gladstone, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Aaron Russell, one sister, Colleen Smith, and two brothers, Charles and James Smith.
The funeral for Mrs. Lillard will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday November 26, 2016 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. James D. "Don" Roche

James D. "Don" Roche, age 94 of Macomb, Illinois, formerly of Raritan, Illinois, passed away at 8:19 a.m. Monday November 21, 2016 at The Elms in Macomb. He was born January 5, 1922 near Stronghurst, the son of Timothy Arthur and Mary Winifred St. Ledger Roche. On August 23, 1944, he married Kathryn Wilsie Tully at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church near Raritan. She preceded him in death on November 22, 1999.

Don served as Postmaster in Raritan for over 35 years, retiring in 1992. He was a graduate of Stronghurst High School. He lived in Raritan most of his life, moving to Macomb in 2005. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Robinson Illinois High School Maroons, Western Illinois Leathernecks, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He was a member of Twin Oaks Golf Club in Blandinsville, Western Illinois Leatherneck Club, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Anne (Jerry) Johnson of Tucson, AZ, two sons, J. Dwaine (JoElla) Roche of Macomb, Terry (Lynne) Roche of Robinson, IL, four grandchilren, Daria Roche Carlberg, Jennifer Bollman Warmbold, Tony Roche, and Laura Roche, seven great grandchildren, Marlana and Cassidy Warmbold, Nicholas and Nathaniel Carlberg, and Brody, Brasyn, and Alaca Roche. He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson, Darek Roche, two brothers and five sisters.

There will be a Rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. Sunday November 27, 2016, followed by visitation with the family from 4:00 until 6:00 pm. at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The Mass of Celebration will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday November 28th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church near Raritan, with Father Tom Otto as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Kenneth L. Bussey

Dr. Kenneth L. Bussey, 70, of Galesburg, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at home.
 
He was born June 28, 1946, in Charlestown Indiana, the son of Fay L. and Virginia (Dueser) Bussey.  He married Christine L. Brown on July 4, 2009 in Galesburg.
 
He is survived by his wife, Christine; two sons, Brent Bussey of Franklin, Tennessee and Ryan (and Ellen) Bussey of Spring Hill, Tennessee, a daughter, Kimberly Bussey of Denver, Colorado; a step daughter, Jordan (and Tom) Rozeske of Madison, Wisconsin; a sister, Sharon Bussey and her partner, Lisa Mills of New Albany, Indiana, and six grandchildren, Thomas Soulsky, Conner Bussey, Nicholas Bussey, Emily Bussey, Abbey McDole, and Charlotte Bussey.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Dr. Bussey was an orthopedic surgeon for over 30 years, retiring in 2013.  He worked in the Christie Clinic in Champaign, Illinois for 27 years and also for the Galesburg Orthopedics for 12 years.  He was dearly loved by his patients and co-workers and they continued to keep in contact with him by mail, telephone, or personal visits before and after his retirement.  He graduated from Charlestown High School, Charlestown, Indiana and Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.  He did his Orthopedics residency at the Indiana University Medical Center.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.  Dr. Bussey was a member of First Baptist Church.
 
He was also a Major in the United States Air Force.
 
Cremation will be accorded.  Visitation will be 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  A memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Ruth Mae Nordgren

Ruth Mae Nordgren, 81 of Galesburg, passed away at 8:34 a.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.
  She was born February 12, 1935 near Lake Bracken on the family farm to Frederick Oscar and Cora Jane Skinner Kjellander.  She married William R. “Moe” Lawson on September 20, 1955 and later married Rollin Nordgren on July 18, 1975 in Peoria.
   Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Rollie; their children, Suzie (John) Hahn of Roscoe, Judy Jennings of Houston, Texas, Nancy (Bob Johnson) Lawson of Spring, Texas and John Lawson of Alexis, Lyndee (Jim) Lewis of Neenah, Wisconsin, R.D. (Jayma) Nordren of San Diego, California and Jody (Becky Pondel) Nordgren of Rockford; eleven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; one brother, Francis (Gwen) Kjellander of Leesburg, Florida; three sisters-in-law, Mary Kjellander of Idaho, Bernice Kjellander of Abingdon and Kay (Vince) Laird of Galesburg; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Glenn Kjellander, Robert Kjellander and Fred Kjellander, one sister, Hazel Wick, her daughter-in-law, Trish Lawson and one nephew, Jason “Jay” Kjellander.
  She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1952 and later from the Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in 1955.  Ruth was passionate for her role as a nurse.  She later worked at Gale Products in the Personnel Office and also at the Walmart General Office in Bentonville, Arkansas.
After retirement, she and Rollie lived near Leesburg, Florida and later in Edinburg, Texas prior to moving back to Galesburg in 2014.
  Ruth was of the Methodist faith.  She was an avid golfer.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a past board member for Gale Credit Union.  She enjoyed crafting, quilting and spending time with family and friends.  
  Cremation will be accorded.  To celebrate her life, family and friends are invited to share in a time of food and fellowship from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Abingdon American Legion Post #381, 546 State Route 41 in Abingdon.   Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements for the family.

Thomas E. Norris

Lois M. Ecklund

Lois M. Ecklund, 93, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born on November 11, 1923 in Canton, Illinois to Charles E. and Ada L. Davis Jacobs.  She married Curt E. Ecklund in Galesburg on June 22, 1946.  He preceded her in death on January 20, 1996.
Lois is survived by two sons, John Ecklund and Larry Ecklund, both of Galesburg; a daughter Kristine Ecklund of Galesburg, Illinois; a sister Katherine E. Taylor of Amarillo, Texas; a grandchild, Scott Ecklund, two great grandchildren, Tyler and Isaac Ecklund and several nieces and nephews. 
Aside from her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

Emily R. Curry

Emily R. Curry, 89, of Knoxville, Illinois passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at her home.

She was born on October 3, 1927 in Trivoli, Illinois, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Severt Hunt. She married Robert Curry on July 20, 1946 in Knoxville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1997.

Emily is survived by her children; Ronald D. (Renee) Curry of Knoxville, Illinois, Robert E. (Gloria) Curry of Nunnelly, Tennessee and Sue E. (Kenneth) Jackson of Frostproof, Florida, twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son; Kenneth Curry, four brothers, one sister, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

She attended school in Dahinda and Williamsfield. Emily worked for several motels as housekeeper, she worked in laundry at Cottage Hospital and Emily also worked for the Dixie Cream Bakery. She enjoyed spending her time sewing, fishing, baking and being a part of bowling leagues.

Theodore “Ted” J. Ramirez

Theodore “Ted” J. Ramirez, 81, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:57 pm Friday, November 18, 2016 at his home.

He was born February 24, 1935 in Galesburg, the son of Eulalio and Guadalupe Perez Ramirez.

He is survived by his children, Mark C. Ramirez of Naples, Florida, Anita and Nichole Ramirez both of Moline, Illinois; three brothers, Antonio Ramirez of Springfield, Illinois, Eulalio Paul Ramirez of Bakersfield, California and Loreto Ramirez of Galesburg; his three sisters, Carmen Ramirez, Mary Lou (and Richard) Gonzalez both of Galesburg, Jane (and Genaro) Ramirez-Reyes of Moline; one granddaughter, Taylor Ramirez and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Ted served in the US Army from 1956-1958.

He worked for Butler Manufacturing as a side loader for 52 years, retiring in 2006. He graduated from Galesburg High School. Ted was a past member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Bonnie J. Shultz

Bonnie J. Shultz, 86, of London Mills, IL passed away at 3:36 AM Friday November 18, 2016 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She was born October 4, 1930 in Galesburg, IL to John L. and Margaret E. (Duncan) Hughs. She married Eldon L. Shultz on January 30, 1949 in Knoxville, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Gerald (Karey) Shultz of London Mills, IL; Greg (Fabiola) Shultz of Yates City, IL; Mark (Debbie) Shultz of London Mills, IL; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great great-grandson; three brothers, John (Pat) Hughs, Darrell (Ruby) Hughs, and Joy Hughs.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper at various grain elevators in and around the London Mills area for many years. She served as an Election Judge and Township Trustee for Young Hickory Township. Bonnie was a member of the London Mills War Mothers having served as Treasurer and the London Mills Women’s Club having served as President and Treasure.
 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday November 23, 2016 at the Corman Memorial Home of Avon where visitation will be one hour prior to services at 10:00 AM. Terry G. Hartley

Terry G. Hartley, 69, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:04 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2016 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.
He was born on November 3, 1947 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Thomas and Inez Witousec Hartley. He married Laura Albaugh in Cambridge, Illinois on November 25, 1995.
Terry is survived by two sons, Bo Ryan (and Nicole) Hartley of Gulfport, Mississippi and Zachary Gene Boehme of Springfield, Illinois; a daughter, Samantha Lynne Hartley of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Linda Kay (and John) Hey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and seven grandchildren.
He owned Rheinschmidt’s Carpet Center since 1976. Prior to that he taught school in Burlington, Iowa for three years.
He was a 1966 graduate of Cedar Rapids Prairie High School and a 1970 graduate from Northwest Missouri State University.
Terry was a member of the Harvest Church of God in East Galesburg, Illinois. He was very active in the church and ran its youth program.
He was also a member of the Western Illinois Builders Association. He was a former member of the Elks Club in Burlington, the Galesburg Lions Club, the Galesburg American Business Men’s Club. He was a past president of the Burlington Jaycees. He was a T-ball coach in Galesburg and a wrestling coach in Burlington. He was a member and past president of the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He was president of the Knox County Humane Society for ten years. In his youth, he was active in 4-H, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts. He wrestled in high school and college. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and NASCAR fan.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the chapel. E. Rosemary Wilcox

E. Rosemary Wilcox, 94, of Galesburg, died at 5:37 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

She was born February 5, 1922, in Galesburg, the daughter of Hilmar E. and Vida Emerald (Crickenberger) Voigt. She married Doyle Keith “D.K.” Wilcox on June 10, 1950, in Wonder Lake, Illinois. He preceded her in death September 6, 1994.

She is survived by two sons, Christopher “Kit” (and Pam) Wilcox of Galesburg and Curtis E. (and Kelly) Wilcox of Crossroads, Texas; five grandchildren, Camille (and Jeremy) Howard, C.C. (and Rita) Wilcox, Morgan (and Matt) Tiller, Haley Wilcox, and Lindsey Wilcox; and five great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, Isabelle, Vida, and Sydney. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Keith “Deke” Wilcox on May 28, 2015; two brothers, C. Max Voigt and Ronald H. Voigt; and a sister, Aurora Evelyn Dehnert.

Rosemary graduated from Galesburg High School and Brown’s Business College. She and her husband, “D.K.”, owned the Coca Cola Bottling plant in Galesburg for many years. She was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, singing in the choir for many years.

Rosemary exemplified a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a nurturing supporter of all her family, friends, and pets.

Rosemary was a homemaker and mother for her three sons, who were her life. Before marrying “late in life” at age 28 in 1950, she was a “working woman” who enjoyed working as an executive secretary to one of the principals at the tie plant in Galesburg, the Mayo General Hospital, a Vice President of Household Finance in Chicago, Illinois, and at the Galesburg First National Bank. Later, when the boys were out of school, she also worked in retail sales at children’s clothing stores and gift shops for many years. She enjoyed sending birthday and holiday cards to all of her friends and family though out her life. She was a perfectionist, an avid reader, a lover of animals, wonderful cook, could grow and maintain any vegetation, and could find a cure for any ailment known to man.

But most of all she loved her three sons, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She was above all things, a loving mother and devoted friend.

David Goodman Sr.

David Goodman Sr., 66, of Galesburg, died at 11:49 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at Marigold Health Care Center.

He was born November 15, 1949, in Galesburg, the son of Lindell E. and Ruth M. (Paige) Goodman. He married Cheryl Gillespie in September 1983 in Peoria, Illinois.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth M. Goodman of Galesburg; his wife, Cheryl of Inglewood, California; three daughters, Monica (Kerrye) of Arlington, Texas, Monei of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Deajah of Los Angeles, California; six sons, David Jr. of Galesburg, Toby (Valerie) of Lancaster, Texas, Doby and Allan of Los Angeles, and Seth and Brett of Peoria; four brothers, Lindell (Shirley), Claude (Linda), Frank (Inger), and Dennis (Gwen) Bowers; four sisters, Mary, Linda (Jayson), Cynthia (Greg), and Gladys; a sister-in-law, Michelle (Joseph); uncle Alfonso and aunt Patricia; cousin/best friend, Jackie Kimbrough; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Lindell Goodman and brother, Joseph Goodman.

David was raised in Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. He graduated from Galesburg High School and went on to attend Bradley University in Peoria. His work history includes several years at Prudential Insurance Company in Los Angeles, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, and United Facilities.

Vernie V. Stoneking

Vernie V. Stoneking, 92, formerly of Galesburg, died at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in the Knox County Nursing Home.

He was born October 3, 1924, in Birmingham Township, Schuyler County, Illinois, the son of Bert and Josephine (Babb) Stoneking. He married Gladys Dupuy. She preceded him in death April 17, 2005. He later married Clarita Endicott on September 21, 1974, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death November 6, 1992.

He is survived by a son, Dennis Stoneking of Galesburg; two daughters, Judith (and Edwin) Anderson and Deborah Watson, both of Galesburg; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren with one on the way; 17 great-great grandchildren with one on the way; and a brother Marion Stoneking of California. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James; and four sisters, Violet, Nola, Lucille, and Beverly.

Vernie was a laborer at Rowe Manufacturing Company for 34 years. He then was maintenance supervisor at Applegate East Nursing Home for nine years. He had lived in Galesburg since 1945 and was a member of First Church of God. He was a talented carpenter, who enjoyed woodworking. He especially loved music, playing the guitar, singing, and writing songs. Vernie was a left-handed pitcher on a baseball league after World War II. He enjoyed swimming and sunning at the beach. He also like ice skating.

Vernie served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, with the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was a radio operator stationed at RAF Nuthampstead, England with the 398th Bomb Group, 600 Bomb Squadron. Vernie participated in 33 combat missions. He also taught International Morse Code. He was awarded the EAME Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Graveside services with military rites will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Dennis McQuown will officiate. There will be no visitation. Franklin J. Gustine II

Franklin J. Gustine II, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died Friday November 11, 2016 at 6:24 p.m. at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

Frank was born April 17, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Frank H. Gustine and Lois Opal Johns Gustine. He married Marjorie Pulliam. Frank later married Nancy Ann Carlson Jordan on August 8, 1979 at Glacier National Park on top of Lincoln Peak. Nancy preceded him in death on February 13, 2010.

Frank is survived by a son, Gerald (and Lorinda) Gustine of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a stepson John (and Linda) Jordan of The Woodlands, Texas; a brother James Gustine of Vero Beach, Florida; five grandchildren and two great grand grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Franklin “Reddy” Gustine

He attended Wataga High School, graduating in 1939. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Knox College in 1960. Frank worked in the insurance business for most of his career including owning and operating Gustine Insurance. He retired in 1996.

Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. He flew 26 B29 combat missions during the Korean War before ending his enlistment in 1953.

Frank was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. He held a number of positions in the church including Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Worship Committee and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was a member of the 50-Year Club of Knox College, President of the Knox Alumni Association for 3 years, Chairman of the Knox County Republican Central Committee for 11 years, Vice-President of the Illinois County Chairman Association for 4 years, District Governor for the Galesburg Exchange Club, President of the Galesburg Independent Insurance Agents Association, President of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony, Chairman of the Finance Committee for the construction of the Knox County Nursing Home, Chairman of the Finance Committee for the K-88 development of middle schools in Galesburg School District #205, President of the Richard Asbury Chapter of the Air Force Association, Chartered the Heart of Illinois Air Force Chapter in Galesburg and served as President, State President of the Air Force Association for the State of Illinois and Regional President of the Midwest Region of the Air Force Association.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Rev. Vince Rohn will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites by the United States Air Force. Cremation will be accorded. Edwin John "Junior" Cutt

Edwin John "Junior" Cutt, age 80 of the Shokokon community, rural Carman, Illinois, died at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday November 15, 2016 at his home. He was born September 20, 1936 in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Edwin John and Anna Marie Brusich Cutt. On October 12, 2002, he married Teresa Joanne McMorrow.

Mr. Cutt was a graduate of East Peoria High School, East Peoria, Illinois. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy for twenty two years. While in the Navy, he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp, and also in Guam and Morocco. He retired from service as a communications technician with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After his military service, he was worked in logistics for Hewlett-Packard Company for several years, retiring in 1998.

Mr. Cutt was a proud veteran who loved his country and his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid St. Louis Baseball Cardinal fan and a devoted Republican. He enjoyed gardening, and in his later years, artwork, birdwatching, and riding his golf cart along the Mississippi river in Shokokon. He was a member of Morton, IL American Legion, US Navy Cryptologic Veterans Association, the Fleet Reserve Association, Illinois Sheriffs Association, and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa, two daughters, Diana Cutt of Nyack, NY, Carol (Nick) Peters of Miami, FL, one son, Jeff (Penny) Cutt of Pompano Beach, FL, four stepchildren, Kenneth (Tonya) Opel of Mackinaw, IL, Kevin (Amy) Opel of Morton, IL, Steve (Karrie) Novy of Pleasant Plains, IL, Gene Stoutamyer of Mundelein, IL, eleven grandchildren, Sierra, Evan, Caden, Cameron, Aaron, Alexis, Eli, C.J., Tyler, Alex, and Connor, two sisters, Betty Moore of East Peoria, IL, and Cheryl Rowley of Phoenix, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eugene and Joe Cutt.

A gathering of friends and family, followed by military rites, will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 20, 2016 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. Darlene J. Lawson

Darlene J. Lawson, age 87, of Oneida, Illinois died at 2:15 PM on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois.
Darlene was born on June 19, 1929 in Oneida, Illinois the daughter of Leonard and Erma Molburg Peterson. Darlene graduated from Oneida High School in 1947. She married Kenneth Lawson on July 1, 1951. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1995.
Surviving are two sons: Larry Lawson of Oneida, Illinois and Danny (Debbie) Lawson of Oneida, Illinois; two grandsons: Eric and Adam Windsor; one sister: Lois (Wayne) Billingsley of Galesburg, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Dixie Windsor and one brother, Dale Peterson.
Darlene worked for a local grocery store from 1949-1953. She was also a billing clerk for the City of Oneida Water Department from 1953-1993. Darlene was a member of the United Church of Oneida, Presbyterian Women and the Oneida High School Reunion Committee.

Jamie L. Harroun

Jamie L. Harroun, 40 of Mackinaw and formerly of Abingdon, passed away at the scene of an accident that occurred near West Smithville Road in Peoria County.
  She was born July 19, 1976 in Galesburg, the daughter of David and Sharon Brantingham Harroun.
  Jamie is survived by her mother and stepfather, Sharon and Bob Miller of Abingdon; her boyfriend, Brian Waldon of Mackinaw; one brother, Mike (Angie) Harroun of Galesburg; one sister, Gerri Lynn Lester of Franklin, Kentucky; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, stepbrothers and stepsisters, and many friends.  Jamie is also survived by her beloved dogs, Cloe, Bella and Lady.
  She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
  She grew up in Abingdon and was active in dance and gymnastics at Debbie’s Dance and Baton Studio and later helped teach classes there.  She also participated in the Orange Bowl football game halftime with the group.  She graduated from Abingdon High School where she was a cheerleader and also played on the football team.  She then graduated from Carl Sandburg School of Cosmetology and worked as a beautician at Cuttin Corners Hairstylists in Galesburg.  She also worked for Sally Beauty Supply and later for Chicago Hair Cuttery.  Jamie and her boyfriend Brian worked together in construction and lead abatement for several years.  Jamie began singing at a young age.  She was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church and was a member of the church choir and praise band.  She was a singer for the bands BMW, Better Days, Karma, Shadow of Doubt, Deja Vu, Far From Over and her current band, Project Voodoo.
  The family would like to thank all the local law enforcement agencies, news media and the many volunteers for their time and efforts made during this difficult time to help them find Jamie.
  Cremation will be accorded.  Celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Abingdon United Methodist Church, 401 N. Washington St., in Abingdon.  Rev. Norma June Webb

Norma June Webb, 79, of Galesburg died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at her home.

She was born January 11, 1937 in Bushnell, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer L. “Jack” and Lillian J. Lamb Kelly. She married Frank Gary Webb on December 8, 1973 in Rockford, Illinois. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Michael McLaren, Debra (and Robert) Estrada, Laurie (and Bradley) McWilliams, all of Galesburg, William (and Carrie) McLaren of Maquon, Illinois, and Brian McLaren of Michigan; her sister, Ruth Ann Koster of Dallas, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rhonda Sue in 1953; and her brother, John Patrick Kelly.

Norma had worked for Rockford Memorial Hospital for an extended time. She also had worked in home health care for different companies for over 20 years. She was raised in the Baptist faith, attending the Bethel Baptist Church. Norma enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, and yard work.

A Celebration of Norma’s Life is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jim Ecklund will officiate. Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” McSwain

Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” McSwain, 78, of Galesburg, died at 2:56 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at her home.

She was born October 14, 1938 in Montgomery, Alabama, the daughter of James David and Willie Malloy Sankey Dean. She married J. Earl McSwain on October 28, 1962 in Montgomery. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2002.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Theresa (and Kevin) McSwain Oller of Victoria, Illinois; one brother, Bobby (and Ann) Dean of rural Montgomery; two sisters; Dorothy Dean Deason of Commerce, Georgia and Nancy (and Wiley) Dean Cutts of Montgomery; and two grandchildren, Jack and Nathan Oller. She is preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Leslie Dean McSwain in 1977 and Joseph Daniel McSwain on November 8, 2011; and three brothers, Jack, David and Billy Dean.

Peggy had worked as a secretary for Ocē in Charleston, Illinois for over 20 years. She graduated from Ramer High School in Hope Hull, Alabama in 1958. Peggy was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was part of the women’s bible study group. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She also was a YMCA Silver Sneaker. Peggy’s grandsons, Jack and Nathan, were her pride and joy. She enjoyed supporting them in their band activities.

Private family graveside services are scheduled for Friday, November 18, 2016 at East Linwood Cemetery. Felisa Hernandez

Felisa Hernandez, 87, of Galesburg, died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 in the Emergency Room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
Felisa was born November 21, 1928 in Galesburg, the daughter of Perfecto and Juanita Ponce Sanchez. She married Eduardo Hernandez on June 20, 1959 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on November 24, 2005. Felisa is survived by two sisters, Pat (Sam) Leon of Galesburg and Paula (Reuben) Orozco of Galesburg; three nephews, Ed Sanchez, Sam and Jason Leon; great nieces and nephews, Justin, Ashley, Noel, and Blake Sanchez, Brandon and Hannah Leon, and Tara and Keane Leon; and her great great nieces and nephews, Jada and Keira Admire, and Miguel and Salvadore Hernandez. Along with her husband and parents, Felisa was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Sanchez.
Felisa was raised and educated in Galesburg and Mexico. She worked for Galesburg Gross for many years and retired from Carhartt. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She supported many Hispanic clubs in Galesburg over the years. Although she didn’t have any children she took care of her family and loved them like her own. She loved to cook. She enjoyed being outdoors tending to her flowers and garden. She also enjoyed listening to Mexican music.
Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Clara J. Monson

Clara J. Monson, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois went home to the Lord at 6:10 A.M. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois. 
 
She was born on August 14, 1931 in Lucerne, Missouri, the daughter of Earl and Opal (Guymon) Snyder.  She married Merle Monson on March 22, 1953 at Cameron Christian Church, Cameron, Illinois. 
 
Clara is survived by her husband, Merle of Galesburg, Illinois; one daughter, Debra (Steve) Nott of Galesburg, Illinois; one son, Jeff (Sunday) Monson of Lawrence, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Chris Rushing of Galesburg, Illinois, Cory Monson of Ottawa, Kansas, Matthew and Timothy Monson of Lawrence, Kansas, and Elizabeth, Zachary, and Seth Maples of Lawrence, Kansas; seven great grandchildren, Brendan and Macie Rushing of Galesburg, Illinois, Ethan, Caleb, and Gabriel Monson of Ottawa, Kansas, and Steven and Justin Mastin of Galesburg, Illinois; one aunt, Ruth Denisar of Champaign, Illinois; and several cousins.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jack, and one sister, Rita. 
 
Clara grew up in and around Cameron, Illinois.  She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1949.  She spent almost 30 years with Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan (now First Mid Illinois Bank). 
 
Clara volunteered at the Rescue Mission for 14 years and also the OAKS.  She loved country music and enjoyed rubber stamping.  Clara was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and she loved everyone to pieces.  
 
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, Illinois.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.  Rev. Dave Sholl will officiate. Burial will take place in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to the OAKS, the Galesburg Rescue Mission, or donor’s choice.
