Donald “Don” E. Aden

Donald “Don” E. Aden, 81, of Alexis, IL, passed away at 5:45 a.m., February 28, 2017 at his home.

He was born on November 26, 1935 in Akron, OH, the son of Leo E. and Verla M. (Millard) Aden. Don graduated from Roseville High School in in 1953.

Don owned and operated B&B Cafe in Alexis for over 50 years. He enjoyed being in the country and mowing. He loved spending time with his family and children, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving Don are his six children; Christine Aden of Bettendorf, IA, Cathleen (Joe) Romano and Craig Aden both of Monmouth, James (Bonnie) Aden of Alexis, Thomas (Kathleen) Bailey of Elmwood, IL, and Terry Bailey of Alexis, IL, Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, two sisters; Joyce (Larry) Nichols of Peoria, IL and Janice (Larry) Luttrell of St. Petersburg, FL.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Delbert R. Aden.

Raymond C. Brodrick

Raymond C. Brodrick, age 77, of Knoxville, Illinois died 8:33 P.M. on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois surrounded by his family and friends.
Raymond was born on January 5, 1940 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Ralph and Cleo Whitcomb Brodrick. He attended and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1957.
Surviving is a daughter: Michelle (Roy) Smith of New Port Richey, Florida; three sons: Michael Brodrick of New Port Richey, Florida, Raymond (Julia) Brodrick of Monmouth, Illinois, and Richard (Cheryl) Brodrick of East Peoria, Illinois; step-sons: William (Kay) White of Bloomington, Illinois, Richard (Teresa) White of Knoxville, Illinois, Rodney White of Miami, Florida, and Robert (Susie) White of Bettendorf, Iowa; twenty grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; his long-time companion, Debbie Young of Abingdon, Illinois; one sister, JuDee (Donny) Joseph of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, twin brother, and one sister.
He worked as a warehouse supervisor for Dick Blick Art Materials for thirty-six years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Knoxville, Illinois. He served in the United States Army from December 18, 1958 to March 8, 1962 as an MP at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois the Rev. Michel D. Clark will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Helen J. Lannholm

Helen J. Lannholm, 76, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 9:12 am Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg.

She was born December 23, 1940 in Avon, Illinois the daughter of Oscar Samuel and Florence Hanora Fogarty Newton. She married Alan N. Lannholm on October 31, 1959 in Albion, Michigan. He preceded her in death on September 6, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Mark A. (Megan) Lannholm of Strafford, Missouri, Michael A. (Charlene) Lannholm of Galesburg, Robert “Bob” D. Lannholm of Springdale, Arkansas and Cathy Ann Lannholm of Galesburg; her sister, Mary Kjellander of Garden City, Idaho; Diana Lannholm of Springdale, Arkansas and five grandchildren, Tyler, Kelsi, Blake, Matthew, and Colton Lannholm.

Helen was very proud of being a mother to her four children and a fantastic homemaker. After raising her children she had several occupations such as Tyson Foods, Arkansas and Derby Industries, Galesburg. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958. She had lived in Marshalltown, Iowa, Springdale, Arkansas and Galesburg, Illinois. Helen was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was a member of the Cancer Survivors Support Group. She enjoyed fishing, collecting figurines and plates, watching cooking shows on the Food Network and Dancing With the Stars. Helen loved sharing about her family with her friends.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Monsignor Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday evening at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rosary at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. S.C. Lindo


Dr. S.C. Lindo, age 87, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away surrounded by his family at 6:15 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017 at his home. He was born on June 2, 1929 in Pililla, in the Philippines. He was the eldest son of Silvino M. and Concepcion (Cervantes) Lindo. Silvino Jr. spent most of his childhood in Manila. He attended local schools and graduated from Manila Central Medical School. Dr. Lindo served his medical internship at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. On October 17, 1959, he married Janet Gibb in Biggsville, Illinois. After finishing his internship in Peoria, he went to The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio for three years. S.C. then served a year at the Galesburg Research Hospital in Galesburg, before starting his practice in Biggsville as a general practitioner. Dr. Lindo served the people in Henderson County from 1963 until his retirement in 2006. During those 43 years, he had taken care of countless families and friends. Benny, as known by his wife, made his home in Biggsville, where they enjoyed taking care of their house and fruitful gardens. Along with gardening, Dr. Lindo very much enjoyed friendly competitions in both bowling and golf. Silvino was a long time member, Elder, and Deacon of the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church and was also a charter member of the former Hend-Co Hills Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Janet of Biggsville, their two daughters, Lori (Jay) Harms of Peoria, IL; and Susan (Jim) Foster of Varna, IL. Three sons: Brian (Cheryl) Lindo of Cedar Rapids, IA; Mike Lindo of Biggsville, and Brad (Mariceil) Lindo of East Peoria, IL. There are ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild surviving. He has one sister, Ruth Bodeta of Queens, N.Y. and three brothers, Rogelio (Nelly) Lindo and Jonathan (Norma) Lindo both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Arturo (Julie) Lindo of the Philippines. Dr. Lindo was preceded in death by his mother and father along with Three brothers: Eugene and his wife Violeta, Ben and his wife Betty, and Serafin. Also preceding him in death was one brother in law, Al Bodeta.
A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church in Biggsville. His family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2017 also at the Church. Interment will be in the Biggsville Township Cemetery. Phillip “Terry” Ehrenhart

Phillip “Terry” Ehrenhart, age 82 of the Illinois Veteran Home, Quincy, IL died Friday February 24, 2017 at 6:52 a.m.  He was born September 22, 1934 in Galesburg, IL, the son of the late George W. Ehrenhart and Darlene “Ruby” Ehrenhart (Smyers).  Terry worked as a warehouse receiving foreman at Gamble Skogmo in Monmouth, IL for 27.5 years.  He retired maintenance and storekeeping from Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL in 1997.
 
Terry served in the Air Force from 1952-1956 during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He married his high school sweet heart, Beverly “Gay” Enfield on August 9, 1953, in Anchorage, Alaska during the war.  Gay preceded him in death on January 10, 1999 after 45 years of marriage.
 
Terry loved to spend time with his family on the farm in Roseville where he lived most of his life until moving to Berlin, IL with Gay to be close to his children in September 1997. In 2000 Terry married Joanna Ashwell, and they lived in Berlin, IL until 2010 when he moved to Hawthorne, FL after suffering a stroke in March of 2009.  He moved back to IL to live at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL in November of 2013.
 
Terry is survived by his wife, Joanna of Hawthorne, FL; daughter, Cherilyn (Jim) Donovan of Cartersville, GA; son, Steven (Jane) Ehrenhart of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, David (Emma) Ehrenhart, Ellen (Matt) Greenlief, Heather (Joey) Lodes, and Scott Simpson; great grandchildren Jackson Greenlief, and Grady and Kennedy Lodes; step-brother Leroy “Butch” (Joni) Smyers.  Terry was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 45 years Gay Ehrenhart, daughter Sherrie (1956) and brother Gene Ehrenhart.
 
Terry enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren on the farm in Roseville.  Terry raised quarter horses and later Clydesdales, he also raised airedale terriers.  He enjoyed raising, breeding, and training horses.  He and Gay met many good and lifelong friends through their farm and horse activities.

His wishes were to be cremated, burial will be at a later date. F. Louise “Weezy” Buckman

F. Louise “Weezy” Buckman, age 90, of Maquon, Illinois died at 2:45 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at her home in Maquon, Illinois surrounded by her family.
Louise was born on December 11, 1926 in Williamsfield, Illinois the daughter of Theodore G. and Mathilda Adolphson Swanson. She graduated from Maquon High School. She married Clifford J. Buckman on May 26, 1946 in Victoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2012.
Surviving is a daughter, Joyce (Danny) Richard of Maquon, Illinois; six grandchildren: Aaron (Leslie) Taylor of Maquon, Illinois, Dee Dee (David) Boyer of Maquon, Illinois, Neil (Susi) Taylor of Maquon, Illinois, Tiffany (Kristina) Buckman of Galesburg, Illinois, Donald Taylor of Fairview, Illinois and Jarod (Kari) Buckman of Maquon, Illinois: and fourteen great grandchildren: Devin (Jill) Stowe, Courtney Taylor, Drew Martin, Ethan and Bella Boyer, Austin and Mattie Taylor, Dalton and Kolbie Buckman, Tony Nicholas, Quinn, Drew and Brock Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, James, five brothers and five sisters.
She attended Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Then, she taught school in and around the Maquon and Yates City area for seven years and also worked for the Catalog Department at Dick Blick in Galesburg, Illinois for 31 years up until December of 1989. Louise enjoyed baking anything from delicious gourmet pies to Christmas cookies, flavored fudge and candies (and her potato salad is one for the books – most all of us can easily vouch for that). She took delight in sharing and teaching her baking skills and the occasional beer or glass of wine from the company that stoped by to see her. It’s the time with her family and friends that she loved the most. Member of the former Good Cheer Club and the Knox County Home Farm Bureau.

Elnora Tucker

Elnora Tucker age 96 of Galesburg, Ill. died Wednesday February 22, 2017 at 8:35 a.m. at her home.

She was born January 13, 1921 in Smithshire Ill. the daughter of William and Maude Lewis Widener. She married Rudolph L. Tucker in 1940 in Missouri. He preceded her in death February 2, 1969.

Elnora is survived by one son Bruce Tucker of Galesburg, Ill., one sister Jane Lamb of Morrison, Ill., six grandchildren Erik (Rick) Tucker, Christine and (John Taylor) Miller, Rudy Tucker, Shane and (April) Tucker, Stacia and (Mike) Miller, and Lisa Tucker, fourteen great grandchildren Matthew Miller, Brittany Miller, Hannah Tucker, Gabby Tucker, Bailey Tucker, Luke Tucker, Blake Tucker, Brooklynn Miller, Joe Tucker, Breeanna Tucker, Austin Miller, Madison Miller, Laura Tucker, and Jessie Tucker, and one great great grandson Kaiden Higgins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two son’s William and (Connie) Tucker, and Gary Tucker, three sister’s Vivian Widener, Mary Gossett, and Eula Zauke, nine brothers William Widener, Robert Widener, Jack Widener, Lewis Widener, Richard Widener, Spurgeon Widener, James Widener, and George Widener, and infant twin granddaughter Tina and Gina Tucker.

She lived and worked on their farm, delivered milk, drove a school bus and was an assistant teacher when needed. She worked at the driver’s license bureau. She also was a beautician owning and operating her own shop for many years. She went back to school and became a nurse. She then worked at Cottage Hospital, the State Research Hospital, and then transferred to Decatur, Ill. where she later retired. Elnora helped as a Sunday school teacher. Also for many years her husband and her had several rental properties they owned and managed.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday February 26, 2017. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday February 27, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel with Rev. James Ecklund officiating. Richard C. "Rick" Link

Richard C. "Rick" Link, age 82, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 2:10 AM on Friday, February 24, 2017 at his residence in Oquawka. He was born on June 14, 1934 in Oquawka, Illinois, the son of Ralph L. and Sadie C. (Seymour) Link. Rick attended school in Oquawka and then proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Rick served three years in Puerto Rico, and also received his GED. On September 14, 1956, he married Carolyn E. Williams in Malden, MO, and they have celebrated sixty years together. Rick began employment at Anderson Air Activities in Malden, MO, working with flight simulators and teaching student pilots flight instrument flying. He later worked at Champion Spark Plug for twenty-eight years as a machine operator. Rick also enjoyed farming; beans, corn, and raising watermelon. He enjoyed attending auctions, flea markets, and yard sales. Rick was a member of Marion Fletcher Post #136 American Legion in Monmouth. Rick is survived by his wife of sixty years, Carolyn, five children; Susan Meadows of Cape Canaveral, FL, Richard Link, Jr. of Oquawka, IL, Debra (Matt) Godsil of Moline, IL, Theresa (Buck) Myers of Oquawka, IL, and Michael Link of Oquawka, IL, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Ruth Ann (Marion) Husband, and one brother, Raymond (Roshena) Link both of Oquawka, IL. A number of other relatives are also surviving. He is preceded in death by parents, five sisters, and five brothers.
A graveside service and military presentation of the flag is planned for 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Oquawka Cemetery in Oquawka, Illinois. Rick's family plans to receive friends at a visitation from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. Wendell Raymond Warner, Jr.

Wendell Raymond Warner, Jr., age 58 of Avon, Illinois.  Ray passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 10:35 p.m. in his home, peacefully with his wife at his side.  His 2 year struggle with cancer is over.
  Born in Iowa City, Iowa, to Wendell RaymondWarner and Patricia Maye Gibson Warner, he grew up in Coralville and Washington, Iowa, where he attended school.  Always proud to be called an “Iowa Boy”, he was looking forward to this year’s 40th class reunion.
  Ray moved to Galesburg in the early 1980’s, where he worked at Royce Rentals, Godfathers Pizza, then at Maytag for 16 years until the plant closed.
  Nicknamed “Ray Bob” in department 205, he was a leadman, worked in electrical repair, then later as a loader in the warehouse.  He made many lifelong friends there.
  Afterwards, he attended CDL classes and received a welding certificate at CSC.  He then worked at the Avon School for 8 years in maintenance/custodian.
  His love of music never ended and he enjoyed collecting albums and cd’s.  He was also a great movie buff and loved vintage tv programs.
  He had a big heart and rescued so many cats that his widow will probably be known as “that crazy cat lady” in Avon.
  He rescued his Lab, Sara, from the shelter.  Nearing the end of his life, she was a constant companion.  Present at the time of his death, she was a great comfort to Ray and his wife, Jalene.
  Baptized into the Catholic faith, he attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church while living in Galesburg.  Last Rites were given on the day of his death by Father Dominic of the St. Augustine Catholic Church.
  His family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses that have cared for him.  Dr. James Klemens of Peoria, all the MD’s at Western Illinois Cancer Treatment Center, Dr. Prager and her team at the Cancer Center in Galesburg, OSF St. Mary Medical Center, OSF Hospice, Dr. Hartsill at Northwestern Proton in Warrenville, Illinois, Dr. Lee at the Gailey Eye Clinic, and most of all our primary care physician, Dr. Shrikant Mehta at the Avon Clinic for being so caring in our greatest hours of need.
  Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers David, Michael and John.  He is survived by his wife Jalene Norris of Avon, his sisters, Barb (Joe) Lewis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa Mary Coder of Iowa and Theresa (Don) Lower of Jefferson City, Missouri.  His sons, Joshua, Jacob, Jordan of the Galesburg area along with four grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and of course, his extended family by marriage.
  In his memory, his family and friends are welcome to attend a prayer service and meal on Tuesday, February 28th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Methodist Church in London Mills.  Please feel free to dress casually.  Bring a story.

Edwin L. Johnson

Edwin L. Johnson, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
He was born on November 12, 1931 in Farmington, Illinois to Charles C. and Phylida P. Van Dusen Johnson. He married Pauline Clendenon in Galesburg on November 19, 1956. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2012.
Edwin is survived by a daughter, Ronda Beth Richardson of Red Bay, Alabama; a nephew, Alan Beasley of Galesburg; three grand-daughters, Heather, Karla and Beth; a great-grandson, Zachary Bennett; a great grand-daughter, Leslie Dawn Brewer and a great-great-granddaughter. Aside from his wife, Edwin was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
He worked at Gale Products, a division of Outboard Marie Corporation for 30 years, retiring on May 14, 1984. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and playing golf in the Gale golf league and the Dew Dusters.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2017 in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Scott Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Harry J. Blake

Harry J. Blake, 72, of London Mills passed away at 7:20 PM on February 21, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 28, 1944 to Harry and Dorthy (Allen) Blake. He married Susan Stegens in Peoria, IL December 23, 1994. She survives.
Also surviving are 5 children, Penny (Blake) Hazen of Davenport, IA; , Robert Blake of Peoria IL; Jeffery Blake of London Mills, IL; Deryl Blake of London Mills, IL; Amber Burnett Of London Mills, IL; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Kenneth Blake of Florida and Wesley Blake of Missouri and 1 sister Rita Filker of Yates City, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Christopher Small.
Harry enjoyed fishing, picking on his guitar, camping and tinkering in his garage. He was a truck driver for River City Demolition for many years and always enjoyed driving a big rig. Harry was a huge family man and everyone loved him dearly. He will be missed by many.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. Celebration of life will be held on Sunday February 26, 2017 from 1:00 until 4:00 PM at the Blake residence 201 W Main London Mills, IL. Judy G. Shay

Judy G. Shay, 68, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 5:10 p.m. Friday February 17, 2017 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born on October 23, 1948 in Galesburg to Edward J. and Betty Pritchard Shay.
Judy is survived by an uncle, Sherman Shay, Sr. of Avon, Illinois and many cousins. She is also survived by her chosen family, Pat Simpson of Galesburg; Kelly (and Kevin) Knitter of Augusta, Georgia; Kristen and Thomas Knitter of Ft. Carson, Colorado; Carl Simpson and John Reisert of Louisville, Kentucky.
Judy was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years caring for patients at the former Americana Nursing Home and St. Mary Hospital. She retired in 2011 from Cottage Hospital as a nursing supervisor.
She also taught tumbling, gymnastics and dance at the Royal Rockettes Studio in Oneida, Illinois.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Deacon Michael Crummer officiating. Arthur “Art” D. Mills

Arthur “Art” D. Mills, 84, of Abingdon, Illinois died 6:07 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at his home. 
He was born September 17, 1932 in Cameron, Illinois to Orin A. and Zelda D. Loso Mills.  He married Wanda Jane Tucker September 23, 1959 in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death January 6, 2005.  He later married Mary Lou Armstrong October 8, 2006 in Roseville, Illinois.  She survives.

Art graduated from Galesburg High School in 1950.  He served in the United States Navy for four years.  He was a letter carrier in Galesburg for several years until his retirement.  He was a member of the former Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Galesburg.  He was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers. 
 
Cremation will be accorded.  A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Rev. Delma Damos

Delma Damos, 95, of North Henderson, IL died at 5:12 am Monday, February 20, 2017
at the Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL.                

Delma Lucille Damos was born in North Henderson, IL on July 17, 1921, the daughter of Swan Harold and Anna (Schwartz) Tornquist. She attended New Salem Elementary, Alexis High School, Illinois State University, and Roosevelt University.

She taught in Alpha, Waukegan, and Galesburg where she retired as the principal of Churchill Junior High School. Her love of education always took her in new directions. She helped set up curriculum at Daniel Webster Junior High in Waukegan, and was part of setting up education opportunities, under the University of Illinois, for returning veterans after WWII. She taught business classes to officers at Fort Sheridan and in Galesburg, started the first soccer program. During her years as a school administrator, some of her proudest moments were redirecting and counseling troubled youth.

Delma married Theodore Damos on December 19, 1948 in Waukegan, Illinois. He preceded her in death in February 27, 1998.

In later years she was active in the North Henderson Methodist Church, Floral Club,
PEO Chapter NK in Galesburg, and in various educational groups. She loved her farm, family and friendships.

She is survived by two sons, Donn Damos of North Henderson, IL, David (Karen) Damos of Ingleside, IL; five grandchildren, Christina Damos, Ted Damos, Anna Damos, Sarah (Robbie) Palmgren, Rachel (Joe) Woodland, two great grandchildren, and a brother, John Tornquist of North Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter in law, Marsha Damos, and one infant sister, Maxine Tornquist.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the North Henderson United Methodist Church. Karen Wakefield

Karen Wakefield, 76, of Galesburg, died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice House in Peoria.

She was born August 7, 1940, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey and Margaret (Mellecker) Christiansen. She married Rev. Bob Wakefield on August 17, 1957, in Muscatine.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Bob; two daughters, Diana (and Tim) Bledsoe and Terri (and Kevin) Hamman, both of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Amber (and Mike) D’Angelo, Kyndal Hamman, Charity Bledsoe, and Nathan Hamman; two great grandsons, Cooper D’Angelo and Griffin D’Angelo; and a brother, Robert Norton of Fort Madison, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father; her mother, Margaret Christiansen Norton; and a sister, Nancy Eitman.

Karen graduated from Muscatine High School and Mount Vernon Bible College. She had worked as a nursing home administrator and as a marketing director. She also proudly served as a co-pastor, along with her husband, since June of 1964. They have been at Foursquare Gospel Church in Galesburg since 1971. Karen was a reading buddy at Nielson School. She was an election judge for many years. Karen was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan.

Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel. Jimmie R. Gray

Jimmie R. Gray, 71, of Galesburg, Illinois, died 11:04 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2017 at his home. 
 
He was born June 26, 1945 in Dallas City, Illinois to Charles McClelland and Beulah Pauline Luder Gray.  He married Barbara Gene Shellnut December 5, 1970 in Abingdon, Illinois. 
 
Surviving a daughter, Teddy Jean (and Dale) Gaddis of Galesburg, two step daughters, Tracy Neal of Kissimmee, Florida and Rebekah Hanson of Toledo, Ohio, two brothers, Robert (and Mary) Gray of Monmouth, Illinois and Charles (and Rowena) Gray of Missouri, three sisters, Wanda Johnston of East Moline, Illinois, Dorothy High of Crawfordsville, Indiana and Wilma Hastings of Destin, Florida, two granddaughters and three step grandsons.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jerry Gray and a sister Doris Lambert. 
 
Jimmie worked for Maytag manufacturing company for 32 years until 2002. He then drove a semi-truck for nine years and retired in 2011.  He graduated from Plymouth High School, Plymouth, Illinois in 1963.  He was an engineer in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.  Jimmie enjoyed working on cars and trucks.

Alice M. Thurman

Alice M. Thurman, 91, of Knoxville, Illinois passed away at her home Monday, February 20, 2017 at 3:33 A.M.

Alice was born November 11, 1925 in Delong, Illinois, the daughter of LeRoy and Emily (Decker) Washabaugh. She graduated from Knoxville High School with the class of 1943. Alice married Darwin “Slim” Thurman on July 1, 1944 in Knoxville. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1993.

Alice was a supervisor of the paperboys for the Galesburg Register-Mail, and worked at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in admitting and medical records until she retired. After retirement she still volunteered for Cottage Hospital. She has been an Elder member of the First United Presbyterian Church since the age of four.

She is survived by her children, Thomas A. (Cathy) Thurman of Mechanicsville, Virginia; Darla (Kevin) Kuhner of Glendale Heights, Illinois; 6 grandchildren, Shawn (Lynn) Murphy, Heather Murphy, Aimee Thurman, Aaron Thurman, Trevor Kuhner, Allison Kuhner, 3 great-grandchildren, Chandler Brown, Chase Brown, Ariana Thurman, cousin, Lyle Decker of Rock Island, Illinois, nieces and nephews, Dave (Betsy) Spencer of Culpepper, Virginia; Carol (Mike) Rogers of Rockford, Illinois; William (Janine) Washabaugh of Ocean Side, California; Emily Derham of Monmouth, Illinois; Paul (Connie) Washabaugh of Crystal Lake, Illinois; and caregiver, Tracy Alstedt-Robbins of Rio, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin “Slim” Thurman, daughter, Patricia (Michael) Murphy, brothers, Mark Washabaugh, Dale Washabaugh, Bud Washabaugh and her twin brother Alvin Washabaugh, and sister-in-law, Betty (Floyd) Spencer.

Melvin L. Lambert

Melvin L. Lambert, age 62, of Altona, Illinois died at 8:02 A.M. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at this home in Altona, Illinois.
Melvin was born on November 27, 1954 in Beardstown, Illinois the son of Harry L. and June Elizabeth Knight Lambert. He attended and graduated from Avon High School in 1972. He married Doris E. Wigant on July 21, 1984 at the United Methodist Church in Altona, Illinois.
Surviving is his wife, Doris Lambert of Altona, Illinois; his daughters: Amanda (Ernie) Bishop of Rockport, Illinois, Christi (Eric) Harbin of Beardstown, Illinois and Chelsey Lambert of Galva, Illinois; one son, Jamie Lambert of Kewanee, Illinois; his grandchildren: Ashly (Mike) McGlasson, Rachel and Dakota Bishop, Lexi and Laci Harbin, April and Blake Lambert, and Jurnie Lambert; one great grandson, Killian McGlasson. His siblings: Harry (Marylin) Lambert of Knoxville, Illinois, Dale (Judy) Lambert of Dahinda, Illinois, Mary (Gary) Jones of Dresden, Tennessee, Lyle (Dorothy) Lambert of Montpelier Indiana, Indiana, Rod (Carol) Lambert of Knoxville, Illinois, Carol (Larry) Stegall of Huntington, Tennessee, Raylene (Scott) Palm of Galva, Illinois, Ronnie (Tracy) Lambert of Galesburg, Illinois; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sharon Schisler.
He was an avid CUBS fan, he enjoyed mushrooming, playing horseshoes and spending time with his grandchildren.

Rollin “Rick” Ehrenhart

Rollin “Rick” Ehrenhart, 63 of rural Abingdon, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
  He was born September 5, 1953 in Galesburg, the son of F. E. “Bud” and Clana H. Voorhees Ehrenhart.  He married Deborah Myers on January 26, 1973 in Berwick.
  Rick is survived by his loving wife, Deb; one brother, Ronald Ehrenhart, Sr. of Abingdon; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and their families.
  He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Chad Ehrenhart.
  Rick lived in the Abingdon area all his life.  He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1971.  He worked as a coal miner on the dragline for Midland Coal Company and Midstate Coal Company near Rapatee for almost 30 years.  He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.  He later worked as a welder and crane operator for Ag Industrial Company in Galesburg and currently was employed by CHADCO in Bushnell as a welder and crane operator.  
  He enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle and even enjoyed riding Deb’s Harley trike.  He liked to tinker in the yard and in his earlier years he spent a lot of time hunting and fishing.  Even in death, Rick is helping other families as he was a donor through the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network.
  Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.  His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the chapel with Mrs. Eleanor Landon officiating.  Burial will follow the service at the Abingdon Cemetery.

David N. McCrery III

David N. McCrery III, 59, devoted husband of Katherine M. McCrery died peacefully in his sleep on February 19, 2017.

Dave was survived by his wife Katherine, married in 1979, parents David N. McCrery Jr. and Judith (Purlee) McCrery, two children Evelyn J. Thomas (Zachery T. Thomas) and Neil McCrery IV (Jenna L. McCrery), and two brothers Robert McCrery (Grace McCrery) and Mark P. McCrery. He was "Pappy" to four grandchildren David N. McCrery V, Emery J. Thomas, Zoey L. McCrery, and Anna M. Thomas. He grew up in Monmouth, IL.

Before attending college, David worked as a deputy sheriff, salesman, hospital security man, farm hand, and a Monmouth Airport lineboy. He worked for Savoy Grain Co. and later went on to own and operate his own grain company in Avon, IL with his brother Rob. He also worked as a district salesman for Ralston Purina and a lobbyist for the Illinois Water and Soil Conservation Association. Dave and his wife Kathy, loved adventure and moved frequently, residing in Galesburg, Aledo, Naperville, and Springfield, Illinois as well as Denver, Co and Kansas City, MO.

Dave was a devoted husband and father who's love for the Lord and his family allowed him to serve his community in many ways. He enjoyed mission trips to the Yucatan Peninsula. He served as youth group leader for many years. He also had a love for education. He graduated high school from Monmouth High. He attended Monmouth College and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1979 with a BS in Agricultural Economics. In 1993, David earned a Law degree from Southern Illinois University. He moved back to Knox County to better serve his community and raise his children. Later, he attended Seminary School in Dubuque, IA before working for BNSF Railroad as a conductor, road foreman, instructor, and engineer. He was a true mentor, always encouraging his children to chase their dreams and not let anything get in your way.

Dave loved a good argument, traveling, hunting, flying, boating, but most especially, loved his family and friends. He was a man of the moment and adventure and if asked, he would smile and tell you, "I am a pirate and that's what pirates do." Dave will be truly missed by his family and friends while his many accomplishments and mentorship will live on through his children and grandchildren.

Eileen E. Hart

Eileen E. Hart, 89, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Bloomington, Illinois, died at 5:25 a.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.

Audrey A. Lavender

Audrey A. Lavender, 82, of Galesburg, died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

She was born June 23, 1934, in Rushville, the daughter of Herman and Ulva (Haun) Taylor. She married Don Lavender on September 21, 1954 in Quincy.

She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, Don; four children, Rick Lavender of Mobile, Alabama, Lori (Sam) Ester of Alexis, Lisa (Chuck) Bankes of Galesburg, and Lynn Lavender of Chicago; four grandchildren, Melinda Angelotti, Lindsey Ester, Jarrod Lavender, and Nicole Ester; three great grandchildren, Addison, Carter, and Camden Angelotti; a sister, Norma Murphy of Kerrville, Texas; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Taylor of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harlan Taylor and Charles Taylor; two sisters, Irene Lancaster and Wanda Mitchell; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Taylor.

Audrey has lived in Galesburg since the age of 10. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1952. Audrey was a homemaker. She had also worked at the Orpheum Theatre, was a bookkeeper at Walgreen’s, worked in sales for Sear’s, and was a line worker at Maytag.

Audrey was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Cottage Hospital Senior Circle and had attended VNA for several years. In her younger years, Audrey enjoyed roller skating. Later in life, she enjoyed line dancing. Family was very important to Audrey and she enjoyed Skyping with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Adohnas King Davis

Adohnas King Davis, 3 months, of Galesburg, died unexpectedly at 9:26 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 in the emergency room of OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

He was born November 2, 2016, in Galesburg, the son of Tieonika Davis and William McClendon.

He is survived by his parents, Tieonika Davis and William McClendon, both of Galesburg; sisters, Nevaeh Dillon, Tajhmere Jones, Amelia Gonzalez, Amiyah Gonzalez, Jadya McClendon, and Jaliyah McClendon, all of Galesburg; grandparents, Leanne Davis of Galesburg, Damon and Rhonda Hurbert of Galesburg, and Michelle McClendon of Peoria; great grandmothers, Shirley Davis and Wanda Reading, both of Galesburg; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, including, Elnora Ward, Danishie Davis, Laneta and Mark Bean, Tony Davis, Galen Davis, Demarco McClendon, Dominique McClendon, William Hurbert, James Mason, and Wayne Hurbert; and his God mother, Sharnae Jackson. He was preceded in death by great grandparents, Wylie Miller, A.C. Hurbert, and Wilma Egans; great-great grandmother, Betty Harding; and great uncle, Ronisha Hurbert.

Adohnas was baptized at the hospital.

Charles R. "Charlie" Ruberg

Charles R. "Charlie" Ruberg, age 88, of Oquawka, Illinois, said good-bye to his family at his home on Friday, February 17, 2017. Charlie was born on November 9, 1928, the son of Thomas "Bud" and Blanche Ives (Green) Ruberg. He was raised and educated in Oquawka and graduated from Oquawka High School in 1948. He went to work at I.A.A.P. in Middletown, Iowa for two years. Charlie married E. Bette Gobert on July 26, 1954 and she preceded him in death August 22, 2010. Charlie retired from a career in the United States Air Force in 1970 retiring a Master Sgt. after serving twenty years. He later retired from Gale Products in Galesburg, Illinois. During his career in the Air Force, he served as Presidential Security for both President Kennedy and President Johnson aboard Air Force One. He was working security for President Kennedy on the flight to and from Dallas the day of his assassination. Charlie also served a tour in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3629, devoting many years to the organization. Charlie coached men's fast pitch softball for twenty years. He also coached girls fast pitch softball, pony league, and umpired many games. He maintained the park and field for over forty years. Charlie was named Citizen of the Year in Oquawka in 2002. The ball park was named "Charlie's Field" in 2015. He loved gardening, fishing, playing pitch, mushrooming, evening road trips looking for deer, making recipe books, but most of all, he loved his family. Charlie is survived by one daughter, Linda (Todd Chandler) Miller of Oquawka, IL, two sons; Michael R. (Joni Alecock) Ruberg and Bruce A."Rebel" (Renea) Ruberg, both of Oquawka, IL, three grandchildren; Colby (Heidi Pierce) Miller, Ryan (Danielle) Miller, and Katelyn ("BJ" Billings) Miller, and one great-grandson, Grayson Miller. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, and one sister.
A funeral service is planned for 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. James “Jim” L. Waller

James “Jim” L. Waller, 80, of Monmouth, passed away at 5:32 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.

He was born on May 22, 1936 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Norman L. and Evelyn M. (Perry) Waller. He was raised and educated in Monmouth graduating from Monmouth High School.

Jim married Janet Thomas in Gerlaw, IL on April 6, 1990 and she survives.

Jim first worked at Agar-Wilson Foods on the production line; he then managed the greenhouse at Maple City Floral for 30 years and later the Flowers-R- US greenhouses. Jim then returned to Farmland for a time and most recently he worked at Well’s Pet Food as a security guard. Jim was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed bowling, going to the casino, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Waller of Monmouth; his children, Toni (Bill) Cooper of Monmouth, Rick Waller of Richmond, VA, Jamie (Matt) Hays of Oquawka, IL, Lynette (Dennis) Liggett of Monmouth, Terri (Billy) Boock of Little York, IL, Debbie (George) Kulhanek of Bolling Brook, IL, Don (Jennifer) Taylor of Kirkwood, IL.  Also surviving are twenty grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Christa Waller of Monmouth; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and Mollie, his beloved dog.
